I feel like this is something I should have been reading 4-8 months ago.

They are grasping at reasons to hate this game now?

Thats kinda like saying if you haven't launched a Nuke you don't know they are powerful... B)

If you played this game long enough, you can form an opinion on the new hotness. :)

you can, but it is likely not going to be a terribly informed opinion, especially off this small a sample size. And if you were a bad player before (aka, killed by LRMs regularly, etc) you are still going to be a bad player, but now the Clans are the new shiny to blame for your suck, instead of LRMs, or whatever else.

I was going to reply to open a dialog until the last sentence, this is just another QQ thread. I'll continue to stomp on clan mechs with my t-bolt because, you know it's not that hard.

I do just fine in my Stalker with (3) ERLLs and (4) LRM5s. Actually, I win more than I ever have with that now with more kills and higher damage. The problem is its the only mech I do seem to win in and the only tactic is to hide/cover/stay out of range, soften the with missiles the finish with the ERLLs from far out. If anyone gets in close I'm toast. I haven't found build yet in any IS mech where I can hold out for very long brawling.

So yes with my one mech its fine using one tactic and it gets old really quick. I'd never say things are balanced just because of the only good option I have to play is successful. I've already started playing less and I'll likely just trail off altogether soon.

If you are frustrated it is definitely a good idea to take a break. I have returned after about 6 months off and the game is fun again. I was really irritated around November and just said f'it, I'll come back when srms are fixed. Well I'm back.

I am IS only. I may buy a clan mech for cbills as 'salvage' but that's it. I have been running lights and mediums since the patch and it is BRUTAL out there. I am starting to have success with my lights and it is gratifying to kill all those test tube babies.

But a break IS a good idea. Time off, reset, refit and see how the game is in a month or 2. It helps, let me tell you.

FREEBORN!

Phew...it's going to take me at least 12 months before I can jump back on...already been gone 5+ and still see the same issues.

Only one of three possibilities that I see:

1) They're posting on an alt/troll account.
2) They don't like the game in its current state (that is to say, most well rounded combat in a long time).
3) They're doing badly against Clan mechs and can't adapt, whether due to playstyle, skill, etc.

I'm having the most fun in a LONG time, whether its in Clan or IS chassis. My SRM IS mediums are very viable now.

Your idea of a fix is to nerf clan mechs into irrelevance. No, thanks.

I don't feel like rehashing all the arguments I've had on this subject, though. Plenty of other threads had it hashed out. Meh.

My issue is the game doesn't feel Battletech enough. Allowing basically complete customization of hardpoints for IS mechs (invalidates mechs like the Hollander), too much allowed variation in engine rating for Battlemechs (again, invalidates certain mechs that are built to be "slower" but more weapons in a smaller weight class), all weapons fired hitting a single point (largest issue in my eyes), information warfare is very wacky, and other smaller issues.

I think what it is, is that I wanted something that was a FPS but had much more RPG elements from Battletech.

I definitely agree with the hard point issues as well as the RPG elements and in addition would like to see more of a simulation element............still not a reason to quit though, at least not while using the clan mechs as an excuse for doing so.

People that only look at the Clan weapons numbers and declare them OP are probably the same guys in real life that see a hot chick with big boobs and want to sex her up, while completely ignoring the fact that she is known to have an STD that starts with H and three children from three different men.

I guess it's good to be able to filter out negative information like that so it doesn't affect your decision making process away from the choice you actually want to make.

Justifiers gonna justify.

I would have liked more adherence to lore but that ship has sailed.

Wolverines OP!

And Clan Wolverine is okay, too.

I've been seeing a lot of success lately, and I play exclusively IS. Light, medium, heavy, or assault, I've yet to lose a proper 1v1 against a Clanner, and it's not unusual to see my overall damage and kill numbers beating out every Clan mech on both teams.

I have no intention of taking a leave of absence; why would I, when the pickings are so ripe now?

Seriously...took out my 7K yesterday and threw on 3 SRM6. Fast medium IS SRM carriers are finally viable again.

That's funny, my IS mechs seem to be doing quite well. Perhaps you should consider a change of play style.

Same here, my orion beat down a madcat on tourmaline quite handily. also my grand dragon has had quite good succes harrying clanners.

Why would I take a break now, the clan release has made the game even more fun no matter which side I am playing.

Sounds like you are having the problem with the Clans I want. I want them to be a female dog to beat. I wanna be scared when I see Timber Wolves. I wanna have the Clan Invasion like it was meant to be! Right now I am disappointed with the Clans.

Joe, you are adorable.

If the Clans were as good as you want them to be, they would just march in and take Terra. What would stop them? We already have more upgraded mechs than ComStar could even dream of.

I've seen terrible pilots drive highlanders and victors too.
I guess it means those mechs were never any good.

I just ended my leave of absence, actually, but if more of my boys and girls don't pick up the game again, then I'll probably take another one.
