I am scratching my head why anyone would quit now as opposed to any time the first half of this year.
They are grasping at reasons to hate this game now?

If you played this game long enough, you can form an opinion on the new hotness.

you can, but it is likely not going to be a terribly informed opinion, especially off this small a sample size. And if you were a bad player before (aka, killed by LRMs regularly, etc) you are still going to be a bad player, but now the Clans are the new shiny to blame for your suck, instead of LRMs, or whatever else.

So yes with my one mech its fine using one tactic and it gets old really quick. I'd never say things are balanced just because of the only good option I have to play is successful. I've already started playing less and I'll likely just trail off altogether soon.

I am IS only. I may buy a clan mech for cbills as 'salvage' but that's it. I have been running lights and mediums since the patch and it is BRUTAL out there. I am starting to have success with my lights and it is gratifying to kill all those test tube babies.
But a break IS a good idea. Time off, reset, refit and see how the game is in a month or 2. It helps, let me tell you.
FREEBORN!
S
Phew...it's going to take me at least 12 months before I can jump back on...already been gone 5+ and still see the same issues.

Only one of three possibilities that I see:
1) They're posting on an alt/troll account.
2) They don't like the game in its current state (that is to say, most well rounded combat in a long time).
3) They're doing badly against Clan mechs and can't adapt, whether due to playstyle, skill, etc.
I'm having the most fun in a LONG time, whether its in Clan or IS chassis. My SRM IS mediums are very viable now.

I don't feel like rehashing all the arguments I've had on this subject, though. Plenty of other threads had it hashed out. Meh.

My issue is the game doesn't feel Battletech enough. Allowing basically complete customization of hardpoints for IS mechs (invalidates mechs like the Hollander), too much allowed variation in engine rating for Battlemechs (again, invalidates certain mechs that are built to be "slower" but more weapons in a smaller weight class), all weapons fired hitting a single point (largest issue in my eyes), information warfare is very wacky, and other smaller issues.
I think what it is, is that I wanted something that was a FPS but had much more RPG elements from Battletech.

I definitely agree with the hard point issues as well as the RPG elements and in addition would like to see more of a simulation element............still not a reason to quit though, at least not while using the clan mechs as an excuse for doing so.

I guess it's good to be able to filter out negative information like that so it doesn't affect your decision making process away from the choice you actually want to make.
Justifiers gonna justify.

I would have liked more adherence to lore but that ship has sailed.

And Clan Wolverine is okay, too.
I've been seeing a lot of success lately, and I play exclusively IS. Light, medium, heavy, or assault, I've yet to lose a proper 1v1 against a Clanner, and it's not unusual to see my overall damage and kill numbers beating out every Clan mech on both teams.
I have no intention of taking a leave of absence; why would I, when the pickings are so ripe now?

Seriously...took out my 7K yesterday and threw on 3 SRM6. Fast medium IS SRM carriers are finally viable again.

Same here, my orion beat down a madcat on tourmaline quite handily. also my grand dragon has had quite good succes harrying clanners.
Why would I take a break now, the clan release has made the game even more fun no matter which side I am playing.

Joe, you are adorable.
If the Clans were as good as you want them to be, they would just march in and take Terra. What would stop them? We already have more upgraded mechs than ComStar could even dream of.

I've seen terrible pilots drive highlanders and victors too.
I guess it means those mechs were never any good.
