TBR-C

Because, well, why not have a 90-point blank alpha. Use the PRIME with one less ML if you like Cbills.

And this right here is why you must shoot off the cat ears from a safe distance. XD

very limited ammo in that :( 6 tons is minimum i would run in a ASRM24 setup.

By the time you end up without ammo I'm usually in the 1000 damage range, so it's not so bad. Plus, you can go to 5 tons of ammo and one less ML... I usually take the prime over the S variant and do so.

Indeed; on Alpine this tends to happen but on some maps the brawling with the SRM24 is glorious. I'm still practicing to play the TW well with a paltry 6 kills max so far... (once against 2 PGI players :P). I do wonder why you need to have these large ears compared to the oh-so-compact SRM launchers on the Stormcrow. (SCR-variant of same)

I have a TBR-Prime that runs 2 erll, 3 erml, and 2 lrm20 with 450 rounds of ammo and the rest in heatsinks with standard armor values and I have a blast playing it. Don't have a smurfy link now (on mobile) but the damage per game varies from 200 to 800

A lot of people were using this build during the tourney:

MWO - Space invader Timberwolf on River City: http://youtu.be/ZBqTUTDzMfw

I'd like to think of it as the space invader wolf but most just call it the laser vomit build. B) :D

At any rate it's pretty good damage if you have good laser HSR.

Basically, tbr -c, 2 lpl, 5 ml, lots of heat sinks.

I've run a lot of 2 x CERPPC 1 x gauss, 2 x CERLL 1 x gauss, 2 x CLPL 1 x gauss but at the end of the day went away from them for the 2 x LPL 4 X CERML ( basically same as a few posts up but I use the "C" for no jets, more armor and 1 less laser because of the heat nerf) because 4 medium lasers just hit harder than 1 of everything. Sure, the gauss has more range and no heat but I feel like the laser vomit/space invader is just too much better.

I currently have my "S" in a severely non-meta configuration. I got rid of the omnipods that had negative quirks associated with them in favor of pods from the prime and "C" and equip it with the following:

2 x CERLL
1 X CLPL
1 x Artemis LRM20
CAP, AMS, Mk 1 targeting computer

I can snipe a bit but the best is to openly engage someone at 400-600 meters. Clearly I don't fire the 3 large lasers together.

Kain, I hate to burst your bubble, but the laser Timby IS the new meta. :D

somehow, nearly any TW is meta if you don't put stupid stuff on it. In Pugland, even LRM's are meta. because there they are strong.

ERML, LPL, cGauss, cSRM are all top tier weapons. cUAC5, ERSL, LRM are close behind.
As long as you build your Wolf using those, it will be a great build.

Even post nerf, it's easy to score 500 damage using 4-5 ERML alone.

PRIME = 2 UAC 10's (because 2 is better than 1 :rolleyes: ), 4 ERML (no jets)

C= 3 CERLL, 4 CERML (don't alpha if you don't have to and you can fire as much as you want) (no jets)

S= 4 srm 6, 4 CERML, 2 mg (all jets)

The TW itself is the meta. You will rarely see any other heavy in the hands of competitive players. Putting "bad" weapons on it does not change much.

I guess I am a bit different (on reading on these builds) on how I choose to run my Mad Cats.

My Primary runs with 2 x LRM15's, 3xERML, and a CUAC5 with a lot of ammo. I prefer this style namely because each map is different, and I've found that for myself at least making my mech more of a swiss army knife then a precision scalpel suits me.
So I can engage targets at varying ranges, and still provide a good volume of indirect fire if need be.

With the new ERML heat values even with 4 instead of 5 this is running a bit hot for my liking.

Still works pretty well. Still the strongest all around mech on the battlefield. You just have to pace yourself.

I still have my -C variant setup for this and it is strong but my PRIME setup as an LRM20 boat w/4 x CERML seems to far outperform it.

I just changed my-S variant back to 2 ppc/gauss to see how that goes. only carrying 30 ammo though.

Will have to get used to no CAP/TC.

Calling a dual gauss poptart non-meta....

What does it matter? "meta" is a coping mechanism for bad players to use for whatever tactic/strategy/weapon that rapes them.

I used to hate it due to the **** PPC travel speed and ditched it early on but figured I'd revisit it.
