Great. But sometimes it's not. So a link or any indication where he's getting his information would help.

That is the only place I check for patchnotes. And 95% of the time that page is updated within minutes of the servers coming down. It's pretty up to date.

ok. But there was nothing in the OP to indicate that what he was talking about was in the patch or something Russ leaked on reddit. Which happens frequently and days before a patch is implemented.

What difference does it make? Mixing units never caused any (significant) problems!

They said it was going to be in today's patch several days ago, and you didn't think to check the patch notes? Yeah, it would have been nice if he linked it, but far from necessary on this one. Now, can you get on topic?

I like the part where the formula relies on the amount of internal structure, but then applies damage to the armor.

It should apply directly to the internal structure. I mean, if I fell and broke my legs, it would be my internal structure (bones) broken with some possible minor damage to my armor (flesh).

Probably a game balance thing.

What's easier to read on your HUD: 30 ft/s or 9.14 m/s? 32 ft/s or 9.75 m/s?

I don't if PGI intended it or not, but imperial units in this case is better from a human usability design factor perspective.

How much damage is determined by it's fall velocity and the weight class of the falling 'Mech.
Light 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.04
Medium 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.03
Heavy 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.035
Assault 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.04

Shouldn't light 'mechs be (IS Health * 1.9) * 0.025 to fit the progression?

*scratches head* This makes about as much sense as it usually does...

Scientists use metric units and so should you!

If we could finally do away with the imperial system, there wouldn't be such mistakes.

Why not 9m/s and 10m/s? No need for floating numbers...

Actually I just read the patch notes and saw the pic with it. I thought everyone would read those notes first before he goes to the forum.

Thanks! When the front page of a site is dedicated to sales and apologies it's a pain to dig through underused forums for every scrap of new info.

Well, they had been publicizing the Public Test of this content a fair amount, did you have your head under a rock or something?

All I can say is... gg Light legs.

It's amazing how the damage formula does favor Lights like it does Assaults, except not. The best part is that they simply don't have comparable leg armor.

I checked it out, you really have to abuse the JJ to hurt your legs a significant amount...

l2feather JJ's.

Becasue 1m/s is actually quite a significant difference at this scale (1m is about 3´2"). Which is also why I assume they used Ft/s instead, as it`s precise enough to allow for only whole numbers to be displayed without going down to the .45 inch scale of centimeters or the 4.5 inch scale of the lesser known decimeter. :)

But they are in the patchnotes section AND the patch forum. You're not a child you can find these things yourself.
