please put it in metric, this is an inconsistent eyesore.

Its kinda like crashing a Mars lander due to one ft/s number while the rest was metric....

Using correct units saves lives!

Yeah, convert everything to the standard system already!

I would bet alot of it is because feet is a smaller, better understood unit of measurement.

For example if you used m/s there is a pretty huge difference between a 5 m/s decent rate and a 3 m/s decent rate there isn't much numerical differences to distinguish between the two. However by using ft/s you now have a difference of 15 ft/s vs 6 ft/s and it becomes much easier to distinguish the difference in the actual fall rate.

As far as the better understood, to go metric you would have to use centimeters to get a familiar unit of measurement. However using the unit, the number becomes too big to easily distinguish your fall rate. 5 m/s becomes 5000 cm/s and 3 m/s becomes 3000 cm/s. Now if you used cm/s you have to mentally calculate what say the difference between 15,000 cm/s and 7,000 cm/s and what that actually means in relation to avoiding fall damage and do it on the fly. Again it becomes unwieldy.

So our fall damage is now given in ft/s...

Why? everything in this game is metric, speed, distance, weight. Why not m/s?

I would wager (and somebody probably already said this) that it is Ft/s instead of M/s because Ft/s is more granular and allows for more fine control over where and how much damage there is in whole numbers vs. needing to to X.X M/s for the same granularity..

All I can say is... gg Light legs.

It's amazing how the damage formula does favor Lights like it does Assaults, except not. The best part is that they simply don't have comparable leg armor.

On TT the damage was calculated by Tonnage/10 x distance fallen(round down). So a Jenner that fell 4 Levels would take 35/10=3.5x4=14 damage to its legs in 5 point allocations (and one 4 point)

It is simple and fixes any reasonable whine.

Why does it matter at all? Seriously, the little letters after the number in this situation are pretty irrelevant because everyone can see the number and know that falling faster than 30(insert whatever you want) results in damage. Making a big deal about it and getting converted it to metric instead is the most pointless thing I have seen around here in awhile.
