I just read about it when they post the patch notes

Which are up on twitter and fb but not the front page.

Why would you NOT look at the forum section that's specifically set aside for patch notes? :)

Links?

Someday people will stop assuming everyone knows exactly what they're talking about : /

Seriously? You don;t know where to find patch notes? Every time you start the game the link is right there.

But they are in the patchnotes section AND the patch forum. You're not a child you can find these things yourself.

Nothing indicates they were even posted, I clicked on the Forums, saw "Why FT?" had no idea what it meant, clicked it, read it, wanted more info on the topic.

"So about the fall damage changes in the new patch notes"

Or a link. Or something would have helped. I'm sure it's just me since I have to include references for everything I say for my job.

We could say the same to you. You're a GD Founder and you don't know how to find patch notes yet? Does your mom still tie your shoes? The hell, man! We have remotely operated, flying killer robots, the ability to have a live conversation with video feed across the globe using a device smaller than many sandwhiches, we play this game using computers that dwarf the entire computational capabilities NASA had when they put 2 men on the moon... We're living in the damned future here, man!

My suspicion is that the Assault foruma is supposed to be *0.40 and not *0.04.

That would make sense because when I went off the side of a ramp on HPG at the halfway point the damage I took shocked me.

So what you are saying is everything here IS your fault.

Not trying to be a D*** about this, but I've been watching this convo it was basically:

SUG - I can't find anything

THE COMMUNITY - It's in the patch notes which can be found here, here and here

SUG - I never looked there/never saw it there/how do I find it

THE COMMUNITY - The patch notes again are front page linked here, right in the game launch bar, etc

SUG - I can't be bothered, I just clik PLAY as fast as I can

To which I will counter, unless you got some sort of TELCO HIGH SPEED FIBRE BACK BONE with download speeds of 200+ Gbps while the game is doing the PATCHING thing, what is your excuse then?

Actually I found the patch notes before anyone had replied because yes, I know which section of the forums they're under. I was just saying to the OP that it would be nice to include a link to what he was commenting on, since not everyone knows what he's talking about, the patch notes weren't on the front page, they weren't on twitter, they weren't on fb, so if you don't know where to look you would have no idea what the OP was talking about and no way to find out.

Still not on the front page. Nothing indicates any changes to the game.

So our fall damage is now given in ft/s...

Why? everything in this game is metric, speed, distance, weight. Why not m/s?

Simple....the lowest common denominator can only comprehend ft/s....m/s would utterly melt their little brains.

It is very interesting how this thread got derailed about where to or not to find some patch notes...

c'mon guys, you behave like 12 year old girls. I know it's the internet! and there's someone wrong on the internet! and all but seriously...

Using ft/s instead of m/s must be an oversight. It doesn't bother me but it is an easy fix and it should be changed for consistency and more 'sim' like feel as a military unit will never use the imperial system over metric.

As the rest of the numbers on the HUD is metric, fall speed should of course be metric as well.

The measurement is in FEET/SEC because it is the aeronautical standard for measuring small increments of accent/decent whereas METERS/SEC is used for much larger objects falling far faster over extended periods of time.

As there is 3 feet to a meter... falling (example) 30 ft/sec would equal 10 m/sec
... but when the damage ramps up at 34 ft/sec (on some chassis) it would equal 11.3 m/sec.

Feet/sec has a finer resolution which is easier to rapidly identify with rather than meters/sec with a heap of decimal points constantly fluctuating. Feet/sec (ingame) will have more 'rounded' numbers (less decimals) making it easier to quickly glance at and understand and quantify your vertical movements.

Horizontal speed is displayed in KPH, while vertical speed is displayed in ft/s.

Who designed it?

Was it you Paul?

Because a foot is a more precise measurement than a meter.

Didn't read the whole thread and even though i can't see any logic to clinge to the imperial measure system or even more stupid to °Fahrenheit, vertical movement is still measured in feet/s in aviation. Mechs might not be aircraft but they can go vertically...by jump jets or fall.
