Im not an aficionado of flight simulators but I have been going over them as I prepare for MWO. It has been years since a Mechwarrior game has come out and Id like to give myself a more immersive experience. That being said anyone know what kind of support MWO will have for multiple monitors.

Even with 2 monitors I can see the use of having a back facing monitor. I have so little armor back there and being able to know to be juking gives me a warm happy feeling. Especially since most graphics cards will support 2 monitors.

3 monitors is a totally foreign idea to me. Ive seen the videos on youtube and yes it does look awesome. Is that more of a 2 card setup?

The three monitors question I am interested in too. never done three but I would assume that the answer is yes on a 2 card setup, exactly how not sure but would like to know if MWO would support 3 monitors.

Hopefully It will support it, I use a 3 monitor setup for my work and it would certainly be nice to play MWO on it. Get that and the Razer Artemis (if it gets made) and then all i'll need is a cockpit lol :(

2 monitors seems kind of impractical, though. I doubt the devs will allow you to use a rear facing monitor like you suggested. So, two monitors would effectively split your view right in half, with your crosshairs split over two screens.

3 monitors, however, would be amazing.

I'm interested in this as well. Maybe the devs will chime in on monitor support.

This would be the coolest. I have two V-cards (crossfired) so could easily push four monitors. I would choose the right (17"), left (17") & front (42") and maybe a 7" screen for the rear (like a back-up camera - LoL). The 7" screen because I'm not sure if the Raven, Cicada or the catapult cockpits would allow for a true rear view.

A custom built cockpit would be a great immersive addition but since my construction skills are lacking, I will have to stick to the screens.

Well as long as the resolution is supported, I believe AMD EyeFinity/NVIDIA Surround will work without extra work from the devs. They "merge" the three screens into one logical screen so the game doesn't even know there are multiple screens, it just thinks there is one really wide screen and the graphics card splits the image up properly.

Not sure though, I don't have EyeFinity/Surround because of money and desk space.

AMD Eyefinity can run off one GPU. I have a Radeon HD 6850 and I can run 3 monitors off of it.
I'm pretty sure there are some dual-GPU cards that nVidia has which will allow 3 monitor setups as well.

If you already have three monitors and the hardware to support it all. Go for it.

If you do not have three monitors or the hardware needed... I suggest you wait until we hear from a dev or the NDA is lifted and we can get some real information.

It would be a shame to waste all that cash or have it run like crap at those high resolutions.

All the comments on the rear facing (back-up camera) caused me to ask myself something: When a mech backs up will it beep? :(

Any reason why a GTX580 couldn't run 3 monitors? It has 2 DVI and one HDMI port. Or is the opinion that 3 monitors would be to much of strain on one card?

Well, there is a way to see backwards with the hat in most mech games. Would be nice to have that option. And no mechs dont beep when they back up, but then neither do tanks. However, you can feel free to hop out and flag for me if you want.

If i wasn't playing on a 47" LED TV i'd use 3 monitors.

With only 2 monitors you have the issue of the crosshair being split between 2 screens? no? 3 screen youll have an unbroken central view with side view, pretty similiar to a mech!

3 Monitors would be awesome. If the game supported it, I would invest in the setup.

I'd wait until we know more about the game. I'm not buying anything, including a video card, until I'm at least in beta.

The only thing I've invested in so far is the Legendary Founder and a Nostromo pad.

I'm leaving all hardware updates till I'm playing.
