I would love to give this a go on 6 screens, but I fear the interface wouldn't work exceptionally well. 3 will be perfect however, or even just an auxiliary screen as others have mentioned.

^^ I'm with what Rotten said :) How are they going to support the Artemis without multi-monitor support that allows auxiliary screens on a separate monitor?

mmmmmmm

The artemis could just be displaying information via some sort of APIs that the developers provided to them, thus it wouldn't be true multi-monitor support.

Most modern cards with easily support 3 monitors unless they are low-profile cards. The average card now seems to support 4 monitors, though some cards require a dongle or active DisplayPort adapter to do so. AMD has at least one card that supports 6 monitors from the single card, though as I understand it you have to purchase additional DP adapters since it only comes with 2 or 3.

That is not quite 100% accurate. I have 2x GTX580, 3GB VRAM each. A single GTX580 card can only drive a maximum of 2 displays at any given time. Which is why I have 2 cards (not to mention really wanted some killer FPS and high detail, so SLI was the option). The GTX580 was NVidia's top of the line offering not less than 6 months ago. Only until NVidia's most recent offering (GTX600 series) does Nvidia offer support for 3 screens on one card. However, driving 3 screens for desktop support work is totally different then driving all three for graphics intensive games (I do both).

Since my 3 screen gaming started last year, I would have a real hard time going back to just one. To me, it makes the gaming totally immersive (I only play FPS by the way, but that is just me).

I really hope the support is there!!!

PeptoB :)

Granted, by 580's are a little over a year old, but certainly not low profile.

It should also be noted that supporting multiple monitors and supporting an eyefinity type system is different.

Many cards support more than 3 monitors, but they don't all allow the monitors to be combined into one large display :)

But man is it sweet when they do!

Conveniently, anandtech.com just posted a review of the AMD 7970 that has some multi-monitor gaming benchmarks with Crysis: Warhead (Cryengine 2 based, but hopefully close enough for comparison purposes). http://www.anandtech...up-to-gtx-680/4

Assuming you're going 1920x1200 x3 in landscape orientation, the top-of-the-line cards of the last 2 AMD generations (and the 3-monitor capable current-generation nVidia cards) should be playable. No data on the older AMD cards or SLI-ed nVidia, but presumably they're going to be even lower, probably in the unplayable range without turning down resolution/details/shadows.

Edit: Oops, did the math. Portrait vs. Landscape doesn't matter. A rectangle is a rectangle.

Possibility: I have vowed to record myself dancing a jig and post it online if this game has support for three or more monitors. Trust me....it will not be pretty.

Jig Oath

I have watched some of the videos a half dozen times. I am so totally excited to get into this game. I grew up playing battletech with miniatures I painstakingly painted. Mostly pre-clan invasion with a real fondness for the Jenner. Mechwarrior 1 I think I would still dig out and play if it would run on a modern computer. First game in 4 colors you know? I played so many hours of the battletech on CompuServe by Kesmai...still waiting on the full world they promised me. At gencon I will blow the majority of my funds on the battletech booths; and every year I have to ask how to unlock the torso again. At one point I had read every book.....I dunno why; but I just love this world!

If 3 monitors get supported I will definitely have to start working overtime.

I will build a cockpit for this game if it supports it all.

The Artemis had better get made too. It's pretty much just existing technology anyway!

2 Monitors = Playing games + Watching a movie or browsing at the same time
3 Monitors = Stretching game across multiple monitors

Simple as that, since the game is purely FPS (been stated a million times) you don't want your targetting reticle to be half way on one screen, and on another, with a gap inbetween.
