I just want to be able to burn down those f'ing trees, destroy/flatten light posts and cars.

Don't care about buildings at this point, but those f'ing trees, and those damn shot blocking light posts, and those infuriatingly indestructible, and completely impassible 2 door sedans piss me the EFFF off!

Oh, yes! Let's have this before Community Warfare or a Matchmaker in the public queue that actually works.

or the flavor of the month FPS has it, so should MWO.... scripted explosions and preplanned building collapses are not really deformable terrain IMO.

I want to carve a hole into a building wall, ceiling or floor. i want to create new bunkers and structures that have some real durability and effect on combat.

I'd like to see some of stuff mentioned but I doubt most of that will make it. I am however hoping the destructible environment is why we haven't seen a new map in forever.

I thought it was because they are creating a sort of random map generator, so you'd have river city look different every time, but the main layout would be the same.

I would VERY much like to be able to stomp/destroy light poles in River city. I canNOT describe how often I've tried to back up under fire there and get stuck on a friggen lamp. Would also LOVE to be able to blow a hole through fences your me h is unable to walk over.

Here's an idea. Make destructible environments. Like what pretty much every other game has nowadays.

It would be so much fun to blast away a building/cover or see a building collapse on an enemy hiding behind it.

How about blowing out a bridge or an rock overpass with enemy mechs on it and have them all get leg damaged (or legged)

How about being able to block off a tunnel exit by shooting on the ceiling (and also being able to blast open a way from inside)

How about being able to shoot out a ledge of snow and have that cascade in to an avalanche that will send mechs tumbling.

So many options, so much more dynamism, so much more fun.

It will come much much later, as of now, this game has bigger fish to fry then falling buildings. (CW, better Matchmaking)

Ahh, yes. I remember when there was exactly ONE destructible tree in river city. Like some kind of a sick joke. This was over a year ago, before they gave up on 'mech collisions.

Strange, living legends had destructible trees and walls, and that was a bunch of dudes who made a video game mod in their spare time..

Also strange that other licensed MW games have had destructible environments.. yet, somehow PGI has made no apparent effort, or announced any plans that we are aware of..

I love being in the middle of a battle, with trees and cement chunks flying through the air with 'mech parts.
It also adds to the game in the sense that, I want to blow up trees and cars so I feel big and mech-y !!!

Destructible objects have been a part of battletech for a long time. Buildings always had health bars in the boardgame.

I would say though, that if we don't have destructible stuff yet, it's probably not going to happen. At least not on any existing maps. My reasoning being is, it makes no sense to make a map, then entirely rebuild it to add destructible objects (physics have to be pre-defined, the only analogy I can possibly think of is making a brick building, and forgetting all of the bricks in the first floor of the building, it's flawed, based on the desired end result).

And as many posters have pointed out, PGI is still struggling with CW (or so the forums surmise, given a lack of information on the topic).

Yet, there are so many mechs on sale at 50% off.. that's important, right?

Dont forget the sales on colors and skull patterns. That's what we play this game for right? lol

BTW, I agree whole heartedly with your other statements. The world right now feels so static and video-gamish (like a video game from the 90s). I am amazed they can get away with this in 2014

Blowing **** up is cool....but it is annoying that its usually to easy to totally level an entire map. BFBC2? Just a couple of rockets and you can level an entire building.

I think if they took the Battlefield 3 approach it would be better. You can destroy stuff, but it takes more firepower and time to actually destroy the buildings.....1 tank round shouldnt blow away an entire left wing of a warehouse...or in the case of BFBC2, 1 40mm Grenade....

I think its doable. You cant completly lever a building with mechs weapons...but sure you could damage it a lot.

They have been coming out with new and improved mobile destructible environments for some time. They are called MECHS and they seem to be the only thing PGI makes these days. Everything gets put on hold for a year or two while they do that.

first...that trailer is for "Mechwarrior 5"...which never happened.

Before we have destructible environments, CW, new maps, more mechs....we need at least another year of patches, fixes, more fixes and hero mech sales.

Anyone else remember pgi saying that they were working on destructible trees, cars, lamp posts during closed beta? Yeah, two years later and all we get is like 1 random tree on 1 random map...

On my phone so harder to look it up, but wasn't there a recent dev post were they talked about this? I think their answer was something like "well, destructible terrain would have to happen server side and it might not load well on each machine, so we want to avoid accidentally destroying one tree for one guy, but have that same tree still be there for another player. This can lead to someone thinking he/she is under cover while the other player can clearly see the mech. "-something like that.

Personally, how awesome would it be to take a flamer and set all those trees in a forest ablaze. Change the lighting, and smoke, and even increase the temperature by the fire, or dig yourself a small trench on the snow...
One can dream, right?
