Ahh, yes. I remember when there was exactly ONE destructible tree in river city. Like some kind of a sick joke. This was over a year ago, before they gave up on 'mech collisions.
Strange, living legends had destructible trees and walls, and that was a bunch of dudes who made a video game mod in their spare time..
Also strange that other licensed MW games have had destructible environments.. yet, somehow PGI has made no apparent effort, or announced any plans that we are aware of..
I love being in the middle of a battle, with trees and cement chunks flying through the air with 'mech parts.
It also adds to the game in the sense that, I want to blow up trees and cars so I feel big and mech-y !!!
Destructible objects have been a part of battletech for a long time. Buildings always had health bars in the boardgame.
I would say though, that if we don't have destructible stuff yet, it's probably not going to happen. At least not on any existing maps. My reasoning being is, it makes no sense to make a map, then entirely rebuild it to add destructible objects (physics have to be pre-defined, the only analogy I can possibly think of is making a brick building, and forgetting all of the bricks in the first floor of the building, it's flawed, based on the desired end result).
And as many posters have pointed out, PGI is still struggling with CW (or so the forums surmise, given a lack of information on the topic).
Yet, there are so many mechs on sale at 50% off.. that's important, right?
