Would be cool if there was a toggle to turn the eyes on and off.
Keep them off at long range and then flip them on when you pop around the corner and make someone shat their pants!

So many things that seem so simple to fix and yet they take the worst possible stance and ignore.

Engine cant do picture in picture, bullshit...

find a way. hire someone who can find a way. After reaping the bonanza of cash from the clans i expect some old problems to be fixed soon, the game needs a polish.

It's worth pointing out that for a long, long time and probably to this day that PGI had an army of artists but only a handful of actual engineers to code the game. They were far, faaaar more concerned with pushing mechs to sell than they were with making a quality game and judging by Russ's responses about how they still have more Clan mechs to push out before they'll even consider fixing the maps, I doubt things will ever change.

I thought they said the engine can't do picture-in-picture, so that's why those screens are blank. I read something like that with the advanced zoom that needed some hackery to get it to work.

Everything needs hackery. It's kind of a big part of graphics in general.

The screens were working very early on, but each screen consumes lots of computer resources. If you have bad FPS now, imagine if there were 4 more layers for 4 screens that all displayed something different.

Really wish they'd just re-enable them, even if they used a lot of resources. Not everybody is running this game on a Celeron.

The game's gone from 'pretty unoptimized' back in closed beta, to 'your GTX 780 ti and i5 4670K can't maintain a constant framerate'-unoptimized.

Maybe they'll fix it. Guys?

Stop laughing.

Mechwarrior Psycho nanosuit guy replaced by anime girl, with 4chan textures on the NO SIGNAL displays.

Anime girls? I'd buy that for a dollar! Or just do a crafty google search......

Funny thing, I actually hit 100 FPS average this weekend..... I'm not banking on it to maintain, but I was pleasantly surprised.... I run a GTX660.

Money talks. And a lot of fans just want more mechs, like they're collecting Pokemon.

A lot of people seem to think that the Clan Invasion was the greatest thing to happen in MWO since closed beta. What did we really get? A bunch of new mechs. New maps? Nope. New game modes? Nope. Anything that significantly changed the MWO experience? Nope. But now your HUD is teal instead of yellow.

It's cool, sure. I do like the clan mechs. But the clans weren't exactly on the top of my wishlist for this game.

In regards to the OP: I agree. We should have this by now. Will probably happen in 2016. No way it happens in 2014, probably not even next year. Same as destructible terrain.

While we're on the subject, here are some comparison pictures.

First, maxed out MWO.

Posted Image

Here's maxed out crysis 3. Note that they are using the same engine. Also note the difference in texture quality and less reliance on filters.

Posted Image

Draw distance in MWO, taken from the view of a random pubbie. You can barely make out the robot that he's likely shooting at, except spectator makes it look like he's attacking thin air. It has no color, featuring heavy use of LOD and filters.

Posted Image

Here is draw distance in crysis 3. You can clearly make out the soldiers standing in front of the supply pyramid.

Posted Image

A laundry machine from crysis 3, that for some reason is using a low res model. Looks like Prophet stole it from an MWO mech cockpit, or something.

Posted Image

It's true that it's not fair to expect crysis 3 levels of fidelity in MWO. The game was made by crytek, and came out 2013. Of course it'll look better than MWO. So here are some screenshots from crysis 2, which was made before MWO, to show off cryengine 3. It's notable for featuring scaled-back graphics, and was basically custom made so it would run on the xbox 360.

Back in closed beta and early open beta, MWO looked almost comparable to crysis 2. After a year's worth of downgrades, it runs worse than it used to, and looks nowhere near as good as it once did.

Yes, I am still sore.

This video should pretty much be titled "Things You Won't Get in MWO"

Look at the Atlas' glowing eyes!
Look at the cockpit screens!
Look at the fall damage that Atlas probably won't take from that drop!
Look at that wonderful mechbay we clearly have a version of that offers no other viewing angles or small dynamic events whatsoever!

- true.
- Notice that the Atlas has a booster jets burning as it falls. That'd avoid fall damage.

Its interesting to me the things people have issues with and care about.

Id much rather have a robust community warfare then a dynamic mech bay with different viewing angles. And the {LT-MOB-25} pit screens? Really? Yea they look cool but will hammer performance on many machines. Is it sloppy? Yea. Do I want them functioning more then just background static data? No. Just add some static detail that we could maybe customized with our own GIFs and be done with it.

I get people complaining about broken promises on CW, VOIP, etc, but this stuff just makes me.......le sigh.......

After CW and VOIP. Those will actually make a difference in the game and the game playing experience. Not the cool nice to have bells and whistles. Just clean them up....AFTER CW Please.

Making pretty graphics and functional displays isn't as much work as designing, testing, and implementing a full MMO game mode.

You'll never have that, by the way. They'll end up giving us a java map with bars for each faction.

If you watch closely the pilot does the same start up motions in every mech

The Atlas startup is different, there are three button pushes for the "Weapons" arming aspect instead of just one like other mechs.

Well lets not argue about the perception of what is not much work........thats a silly debate no one will ever agree upon.

I'm not worried about texture details.....well not that much. Im fine with where its at, especially for a free platform. I get concerned when you start talking about dynamic content which will create additional layers in the cockpit, and begin taxing the systems more.

And if in the end the community demands the things you outline, thats fine....just AFTER CW, VOIP and game impacting things.

Yeah I knew about the first, but alas this is not the place for me to go on a crusade about how they should put it back in.
Didn't see the booster jets, makes sense then. I'm not huge into lore, but I'd never actually seen HOW mechs are 'dropped' from dropships. I assumed it was more of a 'drop off' thing rather than popping out the underbelly.

This, battlefield did the same thing and i was equally pissed off. promising one thing and then scaling it back and sanding it down so more people with **** computers can play is bullshit to the people who bought in expecting what they promised.
