While we're on the subject, here are some comparison pictures.
First, maxed out MWO.
Here's maxed out crysis 3. Note that they are using the same engine. Also note the difference in texture quality and less reliance on filters.
Draw distance in MWO, taken from the view of a random pubbie. You can barely make out the robot that he's likely shooting at, except spectator makes it look like he's attacking thin air. It has no color, featuring heavy use of LOD and filters.
Here is draw distance in crysis 3. You can clearly make out the soldiers standing in front of the supply pyramid.
A laundry machine from crysis 3, that for some reason is using a low res model. Looks like Prophet stole it from an MWO mech cockpit, or something.
It's true that it's not fair to expect crysis 3 levels of fidelity in MWO. The game was made by crytek, and came out 2013. Of course it'll look better than MWO. So here are some screenshots from crysis 2, which was made before MWO, to show off cryengine 3. It's notable for featuring scaled-back graphics, and was basically custom made so it would run on the xbox 360.
Back in closed beta and early open beta, MWO looked almost comparable to crysis 2. After a year's worth of downgrades, it runs worse than it used to, and looks nowhere near as good as it once did.
Yes, I am still sore.
