Ams Useless

doesnt matter if i'm standing in a tunnel/ basement (HPG Manifold) or something else, this thing
fires out all the ammo within seconds.
I/WE need a fix for that. Either it should shoot down ONLY the rockets targeting me or implement a button to toggle it on/off.... Like it is right now = useless!

AMS toggle is on the to do list but we dont know when it will come.
Until then bring more AMS ammo or dont bother with the ams and save the weight for other things

Other than a toggle, they could also make it automatic. They can make it so that when AMS ammo is below 50%, it only shoots at missiles targeted at your mech. So you'll still get the "Team AMS' working together" to an extend, but you'd also have enough ammo to defend your mech when you're the one being focused.

Every missile that is destroyed by your AMS also helps a teammate! Isn't that awesome?

why is this egoistic? then the teammates should equip AMS too to help the team, most of the games i'm the only one who has AMS equiped.
i'm talking about that AMS ammo is gone within seconds, not minutes what it was before Clan Invasion.
i haven't had that problem until the Clans came out. Even after that LRM Buff a few months ago where everybody
carried like 1080+ LRMs with him my AMS was fine with only 1000 rounds. Now there are 2000 rounds are gone
and it doesn't even takes 60 seconds infight.

as i said before i'm the only one who carries AMS in like 8 of 10 games.. so I'M the teamplayer and not an egoist like someone called me before, but i'm tired of getting my ass melted by all those LRMs while my AMS ammo is gone when i need it.

The ammo is not wasted!
But I have to agree it's annoying, that the AMS also is shooting through walls... that has to be fixed sometime.

Only time such a switch might be justified is to stop your ams going off in a tunnel at missile fired outside, but that is a fail coding error/bug, which should have been fixed in close beta *face palms*

looks like you're one of those guys who refuses to equip AMS... cause you dont even have a clue how fast those 2tons AMS Ammo are gone.
Go equip AMS, go out and fight with the pulk of your teammates and i dont even give you 1 minute in a good fight and your ams ammo is gone. Try it out before discussing something on wich you havn't got a clue about.

and please you all, don't talk about teamwork in PUGs when nobody is building his mechs to be team oriented...
nobody equips AMS, the ECM mechs run straight away from the group right after beginning of the match to snipe somewhere far away... alone. Light mechs go into brawling mode against Assault mechs to do as much dmg as possible to ALL targets, Everybody with enough hardpoints only equips LRMs no matter what weight class and standing still way behind the group pushing one button without any sense and so on and so on...
i dont wanna waste MY (*egoism on*) AMS ammo to those ppl, they should equip their AMS to be a little save against LRMs.

It would need a toggle button. How hard can it be to do that?
Rewards for shooting down missiles would be great, but it would be very very hard to balance this unless the rewards themselves are symbolic, say 1xp for every shot down missile or similar.
