Am I the only one who finds it annoying that the cloud of smoke that keeps coming from around your mechs feet makes the tonnage, heat management and firepower practically unreadable for a few seconds every few seconds?

It's a small issue, but the smoke needs to go elsewhere or the number colour needs adjusting to make it readable the whole time. Why not smog up the numbers that don't change?

lol that font is so tiny, I stopped caring about any numbers in the new mechlab.

You want numbers? copy the overview to smurfy and get a clean readout.

Sad, I know... but as long as russ has no problems reading those fonts on a 4k monitor we will have to deal with it :P

Same here. I often find myself struggling with the smoke. Most time I need to wait until it´s gone before I can read the stats properly. Unneccessary
I´m hoping for a smurfy-like mechlab. Too much space is lost due to the pictures (weapons, engines etc...). It´s quite hard to find the proper ammunition when equipping the mech.

I´d recommend a feature to turn off the pictures and just use a plain textlist of items :P

I have that issue with the smoke, too.

A contributing issue is that the fonts are too small and don't scale. I wrote to and Tweeted Ross about the tony font sizes, and posted screen shots showing how the font becomes readable at my monitor's native resolution.

He responded to say they'd looked at it on their monitors and that they believe there is no problem...

I now run MWO at half my screen's native resolution just to make the fonts in the MechLab legible. It's crazy that I should need to do this.

Yes it is terribad due to the micro-font used and ofc the fact that the smoke has almost identical colour as the text...

Yeah tonnage vanishes in the fog multiple times a day for me, sit and stare at it till it clears long enough for me to get a reading. Just another reason to give preference to smurfys and dump all over UI 2.0

I have to take my glasses off and almost press my nose against the monitor to read the text it's so small.

PGI should issue magnifying glasses to all mechlab users.

You are most definitely not alone. The smoke constantly obscures the mech data. That, combined with the size 6 font makes the mech lab horrible to use. It's one thing that I really wish they'd fast track an improvement to. Using the mechlab is very frustrating. I know I'm getting older, but I really don't appreciate the crappy UI reminding me of the fact.

And I thought I was just getting old (older).
Have this problem EVERY time I go to mod a mech.
I pay most attention to the Heat scale (hate shutting down in a fire fight, almost always gets you killed)
The smoke drifts right over the scale and numbers and I either have to wait a bit or go look at something else or whatever till it passes.
Yes the font is small, but I can deal with that, its the damn smoke that is the issue.
I would be happy if they did away with the smoke OR moved the scales to a different part of the screen where they were NOT obscured and visible during the entire mech lab process.

EDIT left out a very important word, lol

Not sure if you noticed, but if you turn your mech a bit, the feet will often become the background behind those numbers and give you a clearer view. Just some helpful observations (least this is what I have to do for now until, hopefully, they do something about it).

Yep, 100% agree. Obscures some of the most important stats on screen, guess it depends what resolution you're running at. There should be a box around those stats with a dark background that's still semi-transparent. That and the fact that the smoke looks pretty ****** to begin with. Also, why is it coming from the floor? Is it raining on hot blacktop or something?

I too have found this annoying, but refrained from saying anything because they are revising the mechlab to be more like smurfy eventually.

UI 2.0 is a complete and utter mess of extra clicks, tiny fonts, needless prompts and lengthy waits.
The whole thing needs to be redone by someone who's actually been trained in UI design. Engineers do not good UI designers make.

I've no real problem with the smoke.

I could take it or leave it.

What I really want are two guys by the computers with a cylcing movement animation for scale, and for each mech to have its own bay number!
Why is it always 4!?

The Trials should be T01 - T12
Regular mechs should be 001+, based on when you bought them.

It is like a lot of things with this game when you think "Has PGI ever tested this?". Sparrow got my like.

Hey now... I'm just glad I can click on the armor button and have it adjust armor instead of having to fish around for where the active portion of that button actually is.... sometimes it wasn't even on the button. Don't get me wrong, the UI is a hot mess, but it's better than the closed beta version.
