Yes 1-2 JJs should never have been viable. Yes having 3 JJs should probably get you what 1-2 gave you before. However, Max should be giving what max gave before. If you are devoting all that tonnage to have a jump capable mech, it should be able to jump.

The mech I own that is most effected is my Heavy Metal. It has the full 5 JJs on it and it used to be damn nimble. Now it is a whale and those 5 JJs are practically worthless. Same goes for my heavy mechs like the CTF 3D I own. It mounted max JJs and I could easily reach the top of the Canyon walls with just a little to spare to insure I cleared the lip of the canyon, now I have to time it perfectly or else I fall just short or get hung up on the lip stuck and motionless. My Quickdraws, one of my favorite mechs, also lost a massive amount of JJ mobility which pretty much killed anything useful about that mech. Without good JJ mobility it went from decent good to subpar.

In the end all I am saying is yes I understand and agree that the effectiveness of 1-2 jump jets was always something that needed to be addressed and nerfed. Honestly it never should have been allowed. However, the way the changed jump jets in this patch has way to much of a drastic effect on those who mounted max JJs. Those people didn't exploit the broken mechanic that allowed just 1-2 JJs to be effective as it was. Basically I just want my 5 JJ mech to actually act like it still has 5 pre-patch JJs, not act like it has only 2 pre-patch jump jets which was never really an effective amount for more than the Jump snipe/poptart meta anyway.


In general I agree with everything you are saying, however I tend to believe that 1-2 jets should have a place. Let us also not forget mechs like the Jester that can only mount 2 JJ at the max. That should be reason enough for allowing at least 2 too be viable.

Yeah I don't know where Sahoj get's that, no one wants it to glide around, we just want it to have an appreciable amount of thrust and altitude when mounting a full complement of 2 ton jump jets.

Jump Snipers and Poptarts never needed height to accomplish what they were doing, in fact jumping too high just made them better targets. What you can't do is get anywhere near the mobility out of JJs on mechs that weren't using the Meta builds and instead were using JJs for high mobility builds with the ability to jump in and out of battle to evade and perform hit and run tactics.

So yeah right on PGI, way to make the game ALOT LESS FRICKEN FUN WITHOUT fixing a damn thing.

Also I want my damn money back for my Heavy Metal. The most interesting thing about that mech was that it could mount 5 JJs and jump around like a light mech. Now it is almost worthless to even use JJs on it, let along 10 fricken tons worth of JJs and it is no longer the mech I purchased. You massively nerfed a Cash item and that is unacceptable.

On page 1 I started to clean up this thread.

On page 2 I realized, that almost every post was bad.

So instead of performing a clean-up, I'll send you off-to k-town, where you are free to attack each other over meaningless little things, like you so much like to do.

I agree, they should be viable for hopping over extremely low terrain like maybe a boulder and of course for quick rotational changes. What they should not have is more than a 5-8 meter vertical jump or long duration of burn.

3 Should be the minimum to get true jump capability with probably a vertical height of about 15m of height at its apex and probably 45m in distance. 4 should give around 20m vertical and 60m distance. 5, 25m vertical and 90m distance. well you get the picture. The also should have their own thrust and not be dependent on the mechs forward motion. Of course now we are talking about how they should be not how they ever were or ever will be.

In any case, aside from 1-2 JJs just being too effective, JJs were just barely functional for anything BUT jump sniping and Poptarting but were at least somewhat useful as a mobility tool to be able to clear buildings, ridges and canyon walls in order to gain some sort of tactical advantage. Now they are ONLY good for Jump Sniping and Poptarting.

the only problem with that is the ones that SHOULD continue on here in k town abandon ship for the next thread :\
