Here's are a couple of Warhawk builds - although they really aren't intended for 1v1s, just builds I have fun playing.

Personally looking at them, I think a fair number of IS Assault builds can go toe to toe with them with ease.

I wanted an LB20 on the first build, but it forces some pretty frustrating choices with ammo placement due to lack of critical slots.

Yeah, the crit slot restrictions are pretty mean in some cases, but I'm overall pretty happy they're there. Being forced to make more decisions like that is a good thing for the game overall, I think.

KFX-S is what I have been piloting of late. It's role is to sit back and protect the team while using it's C-ERPPC to add damage. If light tries to harass I can cut it down with a mix of the PPC and Lasers. I've had plenty of matches where I end up with 3 kills in this and I don't typically strive for kill, more just added damage, harassment, light suppression, and ECM coverage.

Basically this was my answer to the ECM & 2 Large Laser Ravens I keep running into. Does the same sort of job but has JJs, solid heat control, and a bit more damage.

I'm actually getting a lot more participation that I thought! Any IS pilots want to throw in? Simply quote the mech you have a counter for and post your IS counter. I love the way this thread is shaping up!
