I'd guess the Hunchie busted through the left torso armor and caved in the critical engine slots in the 300XL that Atlas is using... no engine... no 'Mech to pilot :)

One thing that I haven't seen yet in either the videos or screenshots is the coolant gauge that we all know and love. I'm starting to wonder if we're even going to have a Flush Coolant option in this game (I also haven't seen an optical zoom, but I've read that they're working on that).

I always liked the mini-metagame of balancing heat, weapons and coolant and trying to decide whether I might need it more later than I did at the moment. I hope it's included.

From what I've read the coolant flush mechanic was something that was invented by MW4, so it almost certainly is not going to be in MWO

Poor Atals driver left his reflective armor in the mech bay, and that laser boat got him good! Poor Atlas :)

Maybe the Hunchback was afk for the complete match and the player just returned as the already badly damaged Atlas closed in for an easy afk-kill which did not happen as we all can see. :)

The Hunchback Pilot split his medium lasers into two groups, one for the arms and on for the torso to neglect weapon spray form different weapon locations.

Heat sink efficiency looks quite low (if you exchange 16 tons of AC20+ammo for 4 medium lasers to add 12 more heat sinks to the existing 13 there is a ratio of 18(+1 for the small-laser) to 25 heat dissipation all regarding boardgame rules and the mech is at 28% heat.

Heat must go up the roof if the standart Hunchie fires his AC20...

And I think the reload squares next to the crossair are a bit in the way for distance shots.

with regards

Risen

Looks like an ammo explosion to me :)
poor poor beta tester, no one told him about CASE did they?

Actually after further review, it looks like the Swayback got 15xp for "component destroyed" so perhaps it really was an XL engine hit, since it looks like he got that Atlas's left torso.

Looks like the Swayback pilot dropped 2 Mlas's for heatsinks, Great option, Heat runs very low while still packing that "Hunchback Punch"!

I love the screenies, but why are they so small. I'm sure you have to have at least one comp among you that can post a screenshot at 2560x1440. I want to see a bit more detail. Other than that I like what I'm seeing. :)

BTW ... same goes for wallpapers. They are too small as well.

The coolant flush came in with MW3, IIRC. In TT it only existed as coolant pods which improved heat sink performance by 100% for 10s (1 round), and were advanced/optional rules.

And yeah, it won't be in MWO. :)

Umm because the Atlas has no support mechs with him. Even in todays world Tanks don't go anywhere without infantry support to keep the little jerks with the "Sticky Bombs" away from them. The Atlas should have had a Hunkback of it's own, or atleast a Jenner somewhere close by to offer it some close support.

I think the swayback has a decent chance of killing a damaged atlas, especially if the swayback pilot is a better gunner.

Ammo 'splode was my initial thought, but XL engine hit seems pretty likely too.
