G'day,

I've read the post and applied the fix. It seems that the problem has been solved for me and am now into the game. At this time, I'd like to express my thanks to the Piranha development staff for finding and formulating a fix. Sometimes things go astray and am glad you guys gave it top priority. Was excellent that you did this at this critical juncture. I would particulary like to give a warm thankyou to Krist Smith and Glycerine Oxcide for their positive attitude, insight and honest assessment in all of this. You're both worth more money mates.

Regards,
Draughluin

I'll try this when i get home, but it does seem a little odd to apparently not have a backup or roll back plan to fix things like these temporarily until the problem can be resolved and rolled forward again.

I appreciate a fix has been apparently achieved but am still quite annoyed that this has been handled rather sloppily by PGI and i had to ask a community member what was going on as PGI's responses were cryptic to say the least and for less technically savvy people you may as well of been talking swahili.

BUT i know all too well things break from time to time and that will never change and if we are in charge of them it is ultimately our responsibility to put things right. You have now, (until i actually try) but the blatant finger pointing, technical jargon, and lack of transparency has left a bitter taste for me. You did a good job with the clans but niggles like these appear to be a case of bad planning, lack of foresight and relinquishing control to third parties and it shouldn't have to be the case where i expect a problem every patch day.

To be fair though this isn't a huge company from what i can tell and it has a relatively small and dedicated team working with a fairly knowledgeable fan base in some circumstances so it seems that your on the back foot in the first place. I should sympathize, I myself working for a small company but this predictable behavior and the lack of effective management is beginning to grate a little.

-nope....didn't work for me...on either of my desktop (windows 7 u) or my laptop (windows 8.1)

when I clicked on the link (http://www.thisisado...sinesshere.com/) in chrome and IE it says page not available. this means that MY dns is correct right?

Run the repair tool in the MechwarriorOnline\Bin32 folder.

It takes a while but patches files individually including the patcher itself.

And yes your DNS is working fine.

Ran the repair tool and still getting the message that servers are down for maintenance. Apparently, either the DNS data still hasn't propagated to my area, or it is something else. I don't want to switch to Google, as that risks trouble with other programs that I use, so I guess I'll wait till I get home from work this afternoon and try again.

Ran the repair tool in the /bin32 folder to no avail. Downloaded the latest repair tool and that did not help either. Clicked the "thisisadomain..." link and got the error message. Reran the flush and rebooted the modem. Retried all of the above in different order and still cannot get the patcher to run. No, will not be trying the Google DNS. Are we having fun yet? I guess I'll try the support ticket route when I find time again....

Quick update: ran the /bin32 repair tool again and the patcher worked! I had a missing pak file when I started the game, so ran the repair tool yet one more time. The game is up and running again. I wish I felt more joy in that statement.

So, if this wasn't a PGI issue, then why did I have to download almost 2 gigs of files to be replaced when I ran the repair tool? Seems like a bogus story; just put on your big boy pants, mea culpa and move on instead of making up bs stories and pointing fingers.

your only changing the DNS on your computer, so it shouldn't effect any of that other stuff... and if it does for some weird reason, you can always change it back to default once the patcher runs.

Well it's fixed! yay. still annoyed though.

But at least i'm back to mech stomping. Is PGi going to do an apology gesture? :(

Yeah, yesterday was annoying but the fix to the patcher was done in a timely fashion. I only lost one day of playtime and after e-mail support and asking to be comped a day, they generously gave me 3 which is nice. Thanks PGI. specifically Krist and Reppu.

If you run a business, and allow things to be "out of your control" then you won't be in business very long.

SO I ran the repair tool and now I get a .pak file is missing error when clicking play in the client. I have run the repair tool serveral times, same thing.

Is there some new repair tool I don't know about?

The newest repair tool is now deployed with the game. You can run it either directly from the Bin32 folder, or by running the patcher and clicking the little gear-like icon in the top-right of the window, next to the minimize and close buttons.

Do you happen to have the Public Test build installed, or anything like that?

I have only been playing a few weeks, so have which ever client you use to play the game. I don't have the latest patch due to the "server maintenance" thing. I read the repair tool fixed this, so ran it from the bin32 folder which reslted in a lot of downloading. Then I launched the client, hit play and it it gives me the missing .pak file error and closes.

I am trying again using the gear thing in the launcher as you suggested, but I am guessing this is just a shortcut to the bin32 file.

By "happening" do you mean that the repair tool is still doing something, or that it stops after those lines? It almost looks like you just installed the game - did you try reinstalling? (I'm not suggesting that you do so, just curious)
