Well I just got done doing a small test on my Stormcrow. The results were that I couldn't see one bit of difference between using the Mark I vs the Mark III TC.

Total average damage done was near identical with the Mk III only having a slight edge of about 3%. However in component destruction, which you would naturally expect to be higher with the Mk III, the Mk I saw about a 10% edge.

Now I want to say it was just a very short test so this is not conclusive but for something that I have to give up an additional 2 tons and 2 crit slots for, I really need to see a significant difference even in a short test. Honestly based on what I am seeing, I would rather devote those extra 2 tons to DHS because they actually make a very noticeable difference unlike the TC.

Well, using component destruction isn't the best measure. That only counts Arms, STs, Legs, Etc... and not ammo, weapons or equipment.

There isn't really a way to tell if you are getting more worth from your crits.

there is no reason to use anything above a level 1 targeting computer anyway. theres just better ways to spend crit slots and tonnage. the level 1 targeting computer is worth it for the faster target info gather speed though, and works great in combination with BAP.

the one exception as I said before is the warhawk. It needs the targeting computer to make up for its sucky hardpoints. but even with a level 6 targeting computer (the 7 isnt worth it because of the odd number of crit slots IMO) the warhawk is still a terrible mech.

the level 1 targeting computer needs a nerf. its about twice as good as it should be compared to the other targeting computers. the bonuses on the targeting computers should be linear since the tonnage and crit slots are linear.

Mabe that should´nt be part of the thread.

But after reading that thread i just noticed:

Clans: Targeting Computer Mk VII: lights can equip it (even ist kinda wasted tonnage); Price 140.000 c-bills
IS : Commando Console : only heavys and assaults can carry it; Price: 1.000.000 c-bills

Sounds funny to me :).

Yeah, I get that Clans have ... insert discussion about lore and their better tech here .... but why not give the CC some love?

It doesn't have to be superior to the TC, just different. Maybe it could have some features encouraging teamwork?

Oh oh, how about an additional marker like the one that pops up when an enemy mech is tagged? Have it pop up whenever a mech with a CC is targeting an enemy, and have the effect grant some bonus to damage or crit rate or something to any teammate that fires at that target.

Well I definitely seen it ingame, just a pitty I didnt take a screenshot or remember his name.

It was 8 ERLL for sure and he was killing people from the far side of forest colony. I just assume that he was using a large targeting computer as he was braging about "orbital strike cannon activating" at the start of the match. This direwolf pilot also got over 1000 damage and multiple kills so I will at least say it ""works""

Was that Dire Whale also riding a Unicorn?

I've seen that build in game...what's so mystical about it?
