2-mans however - well someone else posted that you "need 2-mans because of 10-mans" - unfortunately that's true but that is exactly the same argument as why they shouldn't be there! All too often as a 2-man you are just making up the numbers and if the big group don't tell u the plan it can be a pretty miserable 60 seconds/15 minutes..
So the alternative is groups of 3-9 but not solo or groups of 10 or 12 for one queue that has nigh insufferable wait times
And a kiddie pool with near instant drop times for solos and 2 mans?
If the big group doesn't communicate it does not mean the 2 man shouldn't as well. It's a new concept for many players with the larger groups frequently composed of members of a player run merc corp House unit or Clan unit and they (we) can be somewhat insular and forget we are not the only ones that need to know a plan.
Honestly to make this matchmaker even better I want an option to opt into the groups queue as a solo so I can be rid of DERP town forever.I would rather lose 100% of my solo drops in a group queue than put up with the idiocy of soloing and win 50% of the time.

That's because the current incarnation of the matchmaker does not separate players based on their skill or Elo scores. If you have a high Elo, you are expected to carry new players. Some re-write, huh?
Adding ANY groups to that crap sandwich makes it even harder to carry them and it's hard enough as it is.

All fine, intelligent points.
And....beyond new player's ability to comprehend, at least in the solo PUG. And don't tell me it's my responsibility to teach them these things...I'm done with teaching. PGI obviously doesn't think that it's important to teach new players how to play the game and neither do I.
ESPECIALLY now that I'm expected to carry half a dozen of them every single match I play in. Love that new matchmaker.
And, guess what? I STILL haven't seen a single PGI or IGP employee playing in the solo queue since the matchmaker re-write (and don't bother to tell me you have, no screenshot-no proof). I'd like to see one of them have to try to carry six new players for a while.

You definitely hold a seething comtempt for new players, man. I pity the noobs on your team.

That's why you still have people who think things like "you can't go through the water!" on forest colony.
It's why some of the competitive teams just absolutely roll everyone else, because they analyze and understand the game on an entirely different level. It's not just because they have better aim. It's because they don't just mindlessly repeat stupid actions over and over again.
It's not just new players who are derping it up.

I've seen wave after wave after wave of new players come, spend some money and then leave because they simply can't get how to play.
I tried the whole "hold them by the hand and teach them" bit for a long, long time. Guess what I got for it? Nothing except wave after wave of mouthbreathers that simply can't grasp the most basic principles.
I'm done with it. Especially now that we're expected to carry them as opposed to letting them play in their own bracket until they figure things out and move up the food chain.
