I would like to see an ability developed to allow a player to blacklist one or two maps that the player does not care to play. Or alternatively a whitelist approach to matchmaking.
This would improve player enjoyment and give devs some solid feedback on player preferences for the maps.

Exactly why should they do that?
I would like to fix maps, like Alpine and HPG, but why remove them?
There should be a better reason than "I do not like it!" (I do not playing with Stalker Missile Boats, or entire teams of Jump snipers.. and yet I do, and do not demand the ability to banish them.)
They are a part of the game...

Also alpine is broken. River city is broken, Forrest colony is straight up too small.
The only fun maps are HPG Frozen River(and its broke!) and Straight and they are getting old.

you know what happened the last tiem someone said this?
They started a poll
Know what the response showed?
About 5% (less than 30) voted that "it should be removed because they didn't like it"
can you guess what the other 95% or so voted?
so no, your opinion on the maps does not represent the majority

As badly 'broken' as many of the maps are, PGI's failure pales in comparison to the consistent failure of most MWO players....
....seriously. I watch veterans of the game, guys wearing Founders or Phoenix tags or simply guys I just recognize from the beta days mindlessly following the same patterns that consistently lead to failure or obeying the same mindless dogma they adhere to which again consistently leads to failure. I watch them predictably act like fools time and again, I can only think of Wheatley and what GLaDOS said about him...

every poll ever posted about mordor has shown that the actual majority wouldn't get rid of the map
Especially if things like "Volcano randomly erupts and destroys every mech within the center" was added to that map.

Hey we found one of the five players who likes that map
But seriously we have so few maps... and, you know... those maps are EXPENSIVE to make according PGI so no way to drop them (or even "fix" them).
And in a more wholesale sense, players shouldn't be allowed to "choose" maps at all. You have to build your mech for all possible maps, hot/cold, small/large doesn't matter. No need for 20 Jagerbombs on river city or a full LRM team on alpine.
