Well, there's been some talk about Solaris. It's something PGI has mentioned, but it's probably not something we'll see for another couple of years, at this rate.

I'm still curious about how people actually want PGI to use Solaris in this game. For the 3 people on this forum who didn't play previous MW-games, Solaris is a kind of a huge sports arena where mechs fight each other in front of a crowd, with commentators calling the action for the viewers at home.

NOTE: I'm not asking how you would want to see Solaris implemented in a perfect world, where PGI has unlimited resources. And I'm not asking for any doom & gloom predictions that it's never going to happen, or that it'll just be skirmish on a new map, with a cheering crowd sound effect every time someone dies. I'm asking for something in the middle. What are your expectations? What do you expect them to do?

EDIT: I'm especially interested in what people's views are in regards to public rankings, leaderboards, ELO, tournaments, etc.

PS: Duncan Fisher goes without saying, but feel free to say it anyway.

ladder system for teams of different sizes including solo. Different weight class ladders including a mixed weight class. Maybe half a dozen different arena maps. Duncan Fisher. Other stuff.

but meh, its pipe dream just like most of what MWO could be.

Teams of 4 with leaderboards. Deathmatch, though probably mixed queue. Much salt from the losers about the opponents using 'cheap' builds. Lore-heads getting angry about the non-viability of stock mechs.

I expect the maps to have different backround/sky textures.

Lol.

Make it like a season ladder a la Starcraft, with short tournaments independent of the ladder. Do ladder by weight class. Tournaments can be ANYTHING including stuff like only clans or IS, stock mechs only, any weight class goes, etc.

My 2 cents

Solaris' interpretation in MW4: Mercs?

That.

That is what I expect/want Solaris to be like.

Maybe do doubles or lance-on-lance if people really want it, but...well, like you said - Duncan Fisher.

If it doesn't feel like I'm in a stupidly oversized/ludicrously expensive superstadium fighting for glory and riches and the million voices of my screaming fans, it's not Solaris. If it does feel like that, I may never play the regular drop queue again.

Exactly like what I'm playing today.

My real hope is that it might have a new map or two.

The ability to bet on matches with cbills would also add oomph.

Posts like these make me come back to this forum. It's important to dream, as someone once told me.

Bascially what MW4 and MW2:mercs did.

Small arena maps with 4-8 plays playing FFA.

Alternatively, oddball game modes like 2v2v2v2 or respawn CTF or King of the Hill on a select few maps made for those game modes.

Some George Ledoux voice overs would be greatly appreciated as well.

This is what I'm really curious about.

Do people want leaderboards? Public rankings? Do people want a shark tank where they only meet people at their own ELO level, with no easy kills to feed their ego? Or do they want mixed ELO, like we have now?

I don't think the lore-heads will be worried about stock mechs though. But if the YLW isn't the best mech in Solaris, there will be hell to pay.

Those, I want out of a Solaris mode. I want to see where I stand one on one, with no easy kills unless my opponent (or me) made a very big mistake, even if I'm the worst pilot out of everyone playing the game. Everything else are covered by people I've liked posts with.

If you can't play customized-to-the-gills aftermarket super-rides in Solaris, where can you play them?!

Yeesh.
