Some of these mechs have been around for hundreds of years and sometimes they may have been repaired with mismatched components
House mechs might be clean and well painted but Merc mechs are workhorses and will reflect that
Add tech notes on sticky tape, scratched/unpainted panels, hula girls and ashtrays bolted to the dashboard etc

i agree with a sidearm holstered somewhere. maybe a cloths locker with stickers......not a fan of fuzzy dice as i have a fuzzy fish hanging from my rearview. maybe have a option of things to purchase for your own cockpit and where the placements are

configurable pics - a pic/blank that we can drop a personal pic into and see int he cockpit; id liek to see my kids when im fighting sort of as a reminder i have chores to do and diapers to change

a lucky bullet

a screen that shows a rear view of the mech so we can fire rear facing weapons or just see whomever is sneaking up

an ancient car hood ornament from a ford packer

sticky notes you can configure; say i want to remind myself to dump ammo; i write dump ammo and it appears on the sticky not e in battle
