I like the idea of uploading a photo of "the girl back home".

I like the MP3 player idea, an in game music function would be nice, but I can always alt tab.

Edit: Oh! Oh! I second the motion to change HUD colors!

What I would like to see however, is glowsticks and a few pieces of (raver) kandi

Here's some repetition for you, it's the OP again. Can you bold the part you are talking about?

Demotivational poster or lolcat
Random quirk, like overhead panel that pops open every time you land a big jump jet jump, and you see the pilots hand punch it back closed
Have all the little toys, trinkets, on dash be scattered if mech falls or takes a head hit

Edit: most importantly, a way to turn it off if you tire of it or you do not find such stuff to your liking

Thinking about it, you could treat the pinup girls and the kill list as special-case photo pinups...

Remember, though, that the mech cockpit is supposed to get VERY hot during combat, so we don't want TOO much paper floating around...

And we've all seen what happens to plastic toys that have been left on the dashboard on a REALLY hot day...

Various themed cockpits like holding to the theme of a police officer, Medic, Witch doctor, Military branches, extreme car interior designs, prehistoric ages, Cavemen, Pony's, Barbie, Hello kitty, Nyan Cats, clans, House factions, Merc groups, Horror film, Zombie's, Ninja's, Pirates, Cowboy, Gothic, Matrix, Mad Scientist, Super Hero, Super Villain, weather, Jungle, Cold, Ice, Storm, Lightning, Rain, Foggy, Haunted House, etc Let stuff be added to them.

Customized Pilot Character
Being able to change the character model into female, male, or another themed character with attitude. For instance, Pilot model could be change into Marlyn Monroe piloting the cockpit when she gets ejected from the mech she holds down her skirt.

Change the pilot characters animations by attitude presets : Angry/frustrated = always bashing things in cockpit, swift movements, kicking, jumping out of seat. Lazy: Laying around the cockpit, putting legs up on the dashboard, barely touching the controls to move them. Cunning: holding player cam with arm, Nodding like the pilot agrees to the plan the player said. Gun Expert : While idle your pilot take gun reloads it, take it apart and puts it back together. Really Hungry: While Idle the pilot starts munching on food and beverages heavily. Help me think of more attitude presets.

Maybe a sticky note from a tech saying "Fixed your heatsinks. Stop breaking your heatsinks."

I love the tech note idea, maybe have it have a number of possiblilities it could be. for example, if you lost a heatsink in the last match have the heatsink note show up, or if you lost a medium laser have the note say like, " I had to look around but I found another Magna MK II for you, please dont break this one." things like that would really set this game apart. Of course if your mech had been destroyed, it would just be a random part on the mech, making it seem like it was hard to find.

Another thing, if any of you ever played Fallout 3, i really enjoyed being able to change my HUD's color between green, amber, white etc. I'm sure something like this has already been mentioned, just wanted to drop my input

It's supposed to help with pilots getting too hot inside the cockpit.
It's mentioned in MW3 Companion, pg238/239 as ECBAS (Emergecy Cockpit Blast-Away System).

Can't see that'd work tbh - not with all the heat those heat-sinks would be kicking out - it'd be like opening the window on a really hot day just when the mech's ticking over... the fusion reactor would be kicking out enough heat to make it uncomfortable when moving and stationary, it might go the other way, given that you're pretty much sitting in the mech cockpit in your undies and a cooling vest...

Not to mention the risk from flying rounds, debris and armour fragments that your cockpit would otherwise stop.

Seeing cracks on the cockpit window would be cool though.

Personally, i like the idea of an HUD, however, perhaps we could add in various instruments (Speed, Compass, Coordinates, Ammo count, Sexiness meter, you know, the important stuff.) that you could use to navigate a larger map?

EDIT- And perhaps a Hull/shield integrity meter?

Decorations wise, yes, an MP3 player (uploading one's own MP3 = Plausible?), Flux Capacitor, A rear-view mirror, or rotation-capable Camera feed mounted upon one's mech would be nice (even better if it can be destroyed with an accurate shot) and perhaps an array of knives, or futuristic sharp objects? (for aesthetic purposes, of course).
