How about a "aging" or "wear and tear" package. These mechs are, in some cases, centuries old. Throw some grit and grime in there. Throw some "graffiti" from pilots long dead around the place, maybe a listing of past pilots (using a random name generator) scratched into a bulkhead. Throw in some mismatched panels or bits that don't fit quite right because they had to be scavenged. The cockpits in the released videos look great, but looking back at that first teaser trailer with the Atlas, it looks way too pristine.

I know it may not qualify, but as you enter your mechs cockpit I was wondering if it would be possible to have little insignia's of the mechs you have killed stenciled on the side of your mech (like tankers and pilots did in ww2). For example, if you kill a lyran mech, you have a little lyran flag with the type of mech you killed (i.e. Catapult) superimposed on it. Next to that there would be a Davion Atlas/Jenner or whatever.

Thoughts? Please respond with ways to improve that idea guys.

small picture frames, maybe even ones that you can put pictures in yourself, like military people has of their family or dog or whatnot. maybe a hat, like a cap or something that the pilot cant wear due to the helmet. (then you can also sell hats~)
or a pair of sunglasses.
also i would love the idea to be able to be able to scripple things on the side of the cockpit with a permanent marker, and have the marker fly around in the cockpit when you get hit too. that would be fun

and i would love to have a wonderbaum hanging

How about environment effects like smoke, heat, sparks, etc.. when taking lots of damage.

Maybe even water splashing in when you take head damage and then enter water areas. Snow blowing in on Arctic maps, sand blowing in on desert maps, bugs on Jungle, etc.. I think you can see where I am going with this.
