Cheers.
"The picture" is a good idea.
For practical reason, will our cockpit's modifications be store on the game servers ?

- A wide assortment of little origami animals (made while bored)
- A worn pair of drumsticks
- A stack of partially completed "My condolences on your loss" cards
- A pair of 3-D glasses to go along with a standard red/blue 3-D poster of your favorite mech
- A bottle of motion sickness pills (e.g., Dramamine)
- A stack of dog-eared comic books (with perhaps one in a protective sleeve)
- A blinking router/modem on the dash whose lights/readout actually represent your current connection stats to the game server
- A crescent wrench hanging from something via its black corded wrist tie
- A plunger ("plumber's helper")...'cause, well...you know
- A snowglobe of a serene winter scene in which the motion of the mech stirs it up and makes it snow
- A sticker that says something like "Remember to use only Genuine FarFire/Doombud™ replacement ammunition!"

Personally I'd love to see pilot animations. Someone suggested a raised middle finger if you scored the last kill. That kind of thing would be awesome.

Also the mp3 player so you could upload/play your own playlists while in the cockpit would be killer =D =D =D

Stickers/Small Posters/Photographs
Not sure it has been said, but being able to slap stickers (or small pinup posters maybe?) on some of the bulkheads with appropriately awesome/humorous Mechwarrior phrases would be a good idea.
Retro-view
What about an optional old school "enhanced imaging" wireframe view mode. The point of it wouldn't be to give you some combat advantage, but rather just turn all the outside view into a 1980's retro theme (something close to how the first Mechwarrior game looked)... you know... just for lols. Hell... you could accomplish it pretty easily by adding a new hotkey that just removed all textures and play an audio clip saying "enhanced imaging engaged"... rather ironic when you think about it

Humorous Soundeffect Replacers
In that same thought, what about optional audio addons that could replace all the sounds with 8-bit versions or something comically inappropriate. MGs that sound like an orc saying "dakka dakka" for example...
OHMYGODBRAINSTORM! Go even further and record Paul (or somebody) trying to recreate all the in-game sounds with his voice (that would be hilarious). Since it would only be heard by the individual, no need to worry about it breaking immersion for others. "pew pew pew"
again... Mech MP3 player
I would also like to reiterate the need for an in-cockpit MP3 player and the means for us to import our own music (that we legally own) into the game. If we can blare it out external speakers that would be awesome, but I'm guessing that will probably be an issue with copyright laws (in which case, don't do the latter part). However, I don't see any problem with an in-cockpit MP3 player assuming it only plays music you already own. Maybe a little animation from the pilot that flips it on at the start of battle? The main benefit of this is it could be timed appropriately to begin when the action starts up as opposed to just playing from your own media player. Also, the same feature could have your selected music being played in the background (more faintly and with an appropriate "in a huge hangar" sound) while in mechlab.
Alternatively, what about all the old MW2 soundtracks? Are those public access yet or are they still protected by copyright laws? (i have no idea)
----------
If the above ideas were reasonably priced (couple bucks maybe, give or take depending on what you get out of it), I would buy all of these... and i think others would too.
