I've never once seen any mech carrying 8 LL, and the 6 PPC variant was a gimmick/joke loadout that wasn't even common. It was basically a rare unicorn that alpha'd once and sat in a corner doing nothing while it recovered.

The real intimidating Stalkers were the 4 PPC and 2-by-2 Mixed [ER]PPC Stalker, which can be solved by other means (like increasing PPC heat to TT levels and making them do no damage within 90m, convergence adjustments, heat system changes, etc. etc.).

Yeah my bad 6 Large Laser is what I was remembering not 8. Although funny enough I am now seeing silly dire wolves running around with 8 ER LL.

The problem with ghost heat is that it penalizes new players who don't know who to circumvent it.
So new players get stomped more because they don't understand a convoluted system, not because they have inferior mechs.
The problem is that Paul is so proud of it he refuses to see it's faults.
I like how you forgot the fact there will be IS mechs on the other team.
If you had IS mechs with no ghost heat you'd still be getting killed even more so then you are now and you'd still be complaining.
Your proposed solution is stupid and shortsighted.
I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Most of the time I'd rather face that than the 2 ERPPC + 2 Goose loadout...(unless the user has really bad aim or puts the Goose Rifles in the side torsos).

Its either Hardpoint restrictions or Ghost heat. Personally I like the idea of hardpoint restrictions better, suddenly the Awesome is a little more Awesome, and the Warhawk becomes alpha king, and we and do some meaningful quirk balancing. The current system requires PGI to go back through every mech every balance patch because of the shear number of variable involved in allowing any weapon in any hardpoint.

QFT
Hard point restrictions also would have been a better stepping stone towards role warfare than this new module system.

A new hardpoint system would certain be a nice way to distinguish chassis/variant flavor, but it wouldn't solve pinpoint issues. The most egregrious offender is probably the Devastator, which comes stock with 2 PPC + 2 Goose. There's also the Thunder Hawk, Gunslinger, maybe King Crab, etc...

Reworked hardpoints would certainly stop a number of the current loadouts, but it wouldn't be "future-proof." As we've seen, Posted Image heat is also not very future-proof, or even present-proof...

Why would you want the binary laser cannon? It is two large lasers strapped together but weaker. It drops 1 ton and loses about 6 damage compared to two large lasers.

In MWO that would still be useful due to hardpoint limits. Also it's only 4 less damage than 2 tabletop large lasers, if the conversion to MWO is similar that would be worth it.

For the record Ghost Heat has no affect on my Alpha Strike. Except on my Jager40. Ghost heats only affects boating weapons, and is still as dumb as a square bowling ball.

But, but... Ghost heat is a cubic bowling ball in a curvy bowling alley with a loop, in which large punished weapons are given the easy route through the gutter and and small punished weapons are heavily punished with -50% acceleration with which to make it through the loop!.

In other words blatantly unnecessarily complicated and heavily punishing medium lasers while barely touching PPCs.

We would be much better off if Paul took "his" energy load idea for PPC/Gauss, and applied it to all weapons. Then killed Ghost Heat entirely.

It would have the same affect, it could be represented visually with a bar in the cockpit, and it's only one mechanic it keep track of that limits alpha strikes.

OR

For a really radical change we could actually implement heat closer to table top with fixed heat caps, and the ability to run certain weapons "heat neutral".

Oddly that would also fix alpha strikes, be in keeping with the game, and NOT NEED ANOTHER RULES SET AT ALL.

Not exactly, it can fit 2 large lasers + 6 medium lasers + any kind of ballistic weapon aside from the AC/20, with a small enough ballistic weapon you can add an SRM6 to that.

If ghost heat was removed ALOT of players that quit this game would probably come back and start playing again.

An undocumented, convoluted mess that was just a band- aid to a very easy to fix problem is not the answer but ALL PRAISE PAUL THE GENIUS etc etc etc

Title says all. GH must be nerfed at half for IS weak weapons. Due IS vs CL assault in game.
Plus IS need at least few more Assault Mechs and few more weapons such as Binary Laser Cannon... cause single cored large lazor is not enough.

Not if you implement Hardpoint sizes.. The largest weapon it has is the one PPC... The ballistics are MGs.

Following the image's URL revealed some keywords. After googling those it appear it is from an anime called Bakemonogatari.
