True dat.
On the one hand, I would encourage people to keep complaining, because PGI has made something like 10-15 weak attempts to balance ECM, and now finally seem to think that it's perfect.
On the other hand, I would recommend that people take a long, hard look at how much influence fans have had on how ECM works in this game. Absolutely zero.

You stop working if you get NARCed, have someone with a BAP near you, have another ECM mech near you (who knows what the J button does), get Tagged, get spotted on seismics or shot by a PPC. Or aren't standing in cover (because it doesn't, despite popular belief, make you invisible and stuff like lasers, ACs, gauss rifles and PPCs remain hurty too).

Except if ECM worked as created:
Quote
- In Tournament-level gameplay, the use of an ECM suite is to nullify the effects of other electronics, such as missile beacons, active probes, and fire control systems. It can also cut a unit off from a C3 Network.
- In Tactical Operations, additional uses for an ECM suite are shown as optional rules, including defeating other ECM and generating ghost targets.

You just have to be aware that its out there and you deal with it.
Unless you need radar lock to shoot, once you go visual, ECM is negated.
ECM is not a game breaker.

ECM is not a game breaker.
As long as you avoid a family of weapons and decades of lore.

The guided missile shooters have a serious problem with ECM.
I say ECM is a good counter to guided missiles and it allows some stealthy movement under the umbrella.
It adds an uncertainty to the game - gotta watch my back for ECM covered mechs.
For the record, I don't own any ECM mechs.

The J button is a lie
