Is a bit of a fugly looking thing in these pics, terrible paint job and thank god thats not the cockpit

Much better

heh..yeah...because using that upper cockpit, one would have no view of the ground, worse than many fighter planes.... which would be really sensible on a highly mobile, all terrain, jumper, eh? lol.

Let me make this clear... PGI will NOT be making any new IS mechs until AFTER all Clan mechs are out for C-Bills AND CW is fully released.

I wish you would stop spewing garbage all over the forums.

My only concern at this time would be the projected hitboxes. It looks rather easy to shoot at, especially if they scaled it improperly.

also, in truth, the STs would probably be tucked more, like the original, in a finished version, this is a TT drawing, not really "optimized" for FPS play.

This mech was always disappointing to me as far as Tabletop went; the Exterminator always seemed more worthy of the 'Assassin' name and there were much better backtabbers/ankle biters in the BT universe to work with.

As far as the Mechwarriors go though, including MWO, it would be a great design to see running around simply because of its potential is great for a 40 tonner.

The name is just a name. The main draw for the Assassin, at least in lore, was that they were stupidly cheap to manufacture and extremely reliable. If I remember the old campaign system Assassins actually only had half the maintenance costs as the other 40 ton mechs...

I want ALLLLLL the mechs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(I think PGI would do well to use the MAD with a heavy redesign by Alex, so far I have not been disappointed by him.)

They could sell the MAD for MC only for 2 months and make a killing. (Especially if they made a Bounty Hunter Hero out of it as well.)

The Assassins were to the Wasp/Stinger as the Cicada was to the Locust. Either way, they were crappy cheap designs in lore.

Absolutely yes. Your Design make me `wannhaveitnow`.

We should get way more 40/45 ton Mechs.

Btw: after watching most of your designs on photobucket ... no **** ...im impressed. Especially your MAD version

Eh, always found the Exterminator pretty crappy, too, TBH. But one is also comparing a SLDF tech mech to a Succession War mech. And I always found that by swapping out the SRM2 and ammo for a second LRM 5, I was able to jump all over the place and raise merry cob, while seldom getting hit myself. Worked even better in MW2 Mercs, lol.

The Assassin was designed around 50 years after the Exterminator and that was still before 2750 ;). It just didn't get awesome tech like the Exterminator did.
The Exterminator was never great, but it wasn't bad either, especially when C3i and iNarcs hit the scene but that still doesn't allow it to even compare to the Phantom C, one of the best backstabbers/assassins in TT, I love me some Phantoms.

I don't believe that to be true. PGI said they will continue to release IS mechs alongside Clan mechs.

Yeah pretty sure that they plan to release IS mechs along side the clans as well unless they changed their mind at some point.

I think it safe to say MOST of us are waiting, and speculating as to when we start seeing more Inner Sphere mech designs, and what ones those will be. We have various levels of confirmation that we will be seeing the Vindicator, Mauler and King Crab, eventually.

We hopefully will see another Heavy, before any of them, IMO. But as a Medium Jock, (and thus admittedly biased) I want to see the Assassin. Badly.

Why?

Medium Mechs are supposed to be y far the most common. Admittedly, even with far better game balancing, I doubt we will see that reflected by actual in game numbers anytime soon, as in general, Mediums greatest strength, versatility, is also their greatest weakness, especially in a minmax game like MWO. And most people feel anything at the low end of a weight class are a total waste.

As a class, Mediums are entirely too top heavy. We need more 40-45 tonners, IS and Clan.
There are 3 timeline variants (ASN-21, 23, 101). 101 was in extremely limited numbers (as Strum will likely excoriate me over) but limited availability has not really stopped PGI yet (HGN was not exactly common, in any form, and outside of Comstar and the Clans the 732 was extinct)

Fast. Very fast. Should have a 340 engine cap, same as the Cicada (by the 1.3 multiplier, it would be 360-365, but by the 8.5x limiter, a 340). 151 kph with speed tweak.

VERY Jump capable. Second only to the Spider. In fact, following the typical JJ inflation, I expect some 9-10 JJ capable versions. With .5 ton JJs.

In theory, it should have a VERY small, compact frame, not terribly larger than a Spider, or Firestarter, at worst. (Of course, we know PGI will screw this part up, and it will be at least as big as a Centurion)

Typical hardpoint inflation should make some nice possible weapons variants.
-ASN-21: 4 Missile hardpoints (2x each torso) and 2-3 energy in the RA.
-ASN-23: Reduced missiles (2-3 in RT?) same 2-3 energy, but great candidate for ECM and enhanced JJs. (Cicadas, Atlases and Commandoes never had ECM in the versions PGI chose, either). Also all weapons on one side for those that like to "shield".
-ASN-101: 2x Missile hardpoints (1 each ST), 2x Energy in the RA, 1x Energy in the RT, LT and H. Reduced JJs, but as a "special" limited test version of the Assassin, even more likely a candidate for ECM due to the NAIS (introduced in 3024, in the early days of lostech recovery, and a House Davion redesign), and very likely the torso lasers would be relatively high mounted, making a good candidate for light jump sniping.

So, in a nutshell, blazing fast, great jumper, small size and profile should make it relatively tough to target, with 3 variants that should (conceivably) actually feed into VERY different roles and playstyles.

Anyhow, not saying it is THE must have mech to be released, just making a case for why it would be a good addition.

Flame away!

Great art.

I'd love to see the Assassin. It's a bit of a dud in TT (barring customization) due to low armor, but of course we have the technology to fix that.

My only concern would be that it might invalidate the 35-ton lights with the hit boxes you've described. Especially Jenners.

Should release the Assassin and the Viper. IS/Clan medium scouts please.

More like invalidate the Panther should it ever be included. Unless it is able to mount at least 6 ML though, I don't see it invalidating Jenners anytime soon. That isn't even counting the 3/3/3/3 rule that helps invalidate the Assassin more so than the 35 tonners.
