Also of concern is the people who get first crack at names and lay claim to the tags to existing units (non Battletech Lore) like someone else goes out and grabs 228th or SJR before they can...


I am sure PGI will account for those units that have a presence in MWO. It would be a simple thing for them to go by their list of MWO units and mark them as already taken before they even release the Patch.

If your group is a coalition made of different units, and each unit wants their own ranking structure.

Or for breaking down privilages even further (so a Major doesn't mean they're a Battalion Commander)

The wording is pretty awkward but basically what he's trying to say is the Vindicator Hero will be released for MC, then later the standard Vindicator chassis will be released for MC, and after that the standard Vindicator chassis will be released for C-Bills. This is typically how PGI introduces a new chassis that isn't part of a special package.

That also hasn't worked with DX 11 and the Matchmaker in the past. So don't expect anything that is usable from the beginning. Hopefully there will be a lot of hot fixes in the days after...

I think I'd prefer that clan mechs be balanced with IS mechs.

Using a different number of players to balance, is almost a direct admittance that the clans are not balanced.

For one, wouldn't this statistically cause IS members KD to drop, and Clan KD to rise? I mean, if a clan mech can take out 2 or so IS mechs before dying? What fun is it going to be playing an IS mech?

I just fail to see how giving more fodder to fewer clan mechs is going to make IS players enjoy this any more.

Again, I know that. The request is for the canon ranks to be installed as preset options on top of that, so that people who want the immersion have easier access to it.

I'd love 5 or 6 character tags. I think that's worth considering.

Lots of pretty things, not a lot of substance yet though. It's progress at least.

I read RBs "update" and just sighed.

Evidently he is convinced that the words "EVENT" and "SALE" are interchangeable. Please note, I have no issue with them making money, but I'd sure like to see some added content along with the constant stream of cash flogging.

The word "sale" was used 12 times for August.

He used "event" 6 times in his announcement and 2 of those were repeats in the same topic. There were 3 "personal challenges" which I'm glad to see but really, other than that no new maps or anything else for player.

Then he pulls out a few pics of CW distract people so they get all excited and forget about the "sale, Sale, SALE!" Nature of his announcement.

This, in my mind, is the best news PGI has delivered since the game went live. I have always said playing this game is like being a recruit in a simulator - none of it really matters except for the practice... Now, it seems we are getting closer to the goal of Community Warfare - persistence - where the battle matter. It has been a long road, but hopefully worth the wait.

I also want to applaud PGI for the transparency of what we have coming over the course of the month. An update like this one, at the beginning of each month, will go a looong way to keeping us fans informed and happy. Please continue this type of update, in this format.

I have never been more excited about this game, and can't wait to see the direction it goes in the coming months.

You do realize that sales are how the industry works right? No f2p game doesn't have weekly rotating sales. They're there, but they're not the events he's talking about.

Why do people have a hard time grasping this concept?

I suppose this serves as confirmation that the Vindicator is our next IS chassis too!

That lousy part, for me, is that I'll be off on a trip for the middle part of August and will MISS a lot of this! How sad! I'll have to play catch-up when I return. :(

Great post with some solid timeline information thanks PGI!

Questions I keep seeing and only a little blurb on twitter mentioned anything about it.

1. Will unit formation still require 12 members?

2. Will a unit still require a drop ship purchase to be able to participate in CW? (The 18.8Mil for 12 people to own an overlord (225,600,000Cbills)

3. The confirmation of Coffers re-ignites interest in what these coffers will be used for. Planetary defense upgrades, drop ships, logistics?

Any more updated information available here on the MWO forums would be great!

The last big info dump I can recall was back in Sept 2013 just after/during the Launch Event posted here- http://mwomercs.com/...re-association/

It's a soccer field. A map created (or rather modified from existing Himmelsdorf map) for special event dedicated to soccer championship, where two teams of 3 players each can play "soccer" on tanks. Ball can be moved both by bumping into it and shooting it, and players can't kill each other, but can temporarily immobilize by shooting or ramming tracks off. I didn't count it as normal playable map (as I didn't with another special map imitating 8-bit graphics for April's Fool event and with tutorial map).

There was another Twitter blurb where they confirmed that Unit Creation would no longer require the 18.8 mil x 12 pilots. It's a huge relief to me, because a lot of the pilots in my Unit spent the 18.8 mil nest egg they had accrued a while back when they got their Clan Mechs.

Awesome info update! One request though, this should be on the front page where you announce the sales as soon as you post it. Info like this is what makes players want to spend money on those sales.
