I knew of battletech universe for a bit of time (about 8 years?), but I actively started to be playing it just for a year or two (MW 4, MW 3 and hopefully MW:O in the future).

I just went over the 20year mark as i picked up my first novel, Merc Star. The Grey Death Legion books. Now my wife tries to hide all my novels and sourcebooks every time she sees them.

LOL - yeah, my wife hates my dork hobbies too. A buddy in my Platoon is introducing me to Warhammer 40k - he hooked me up with a Tau battleforce and I've been trying to paint the little Fire Warriors, but everytime I go into the garage my wife gives me this massive guilt-fest for not spending "family time."

MWO is going to cause a divorce, I swear.

Started playing the original Mechwarrior in 92, still have it on floppy. Played all MW2, 3 and 4 w/ all expansions. And yes I played all the EarthSiege games including BattleDrome. Never played Battletech, but I do have some of the click base figures. Dedicated Mechwarrior franchise man here. Mechs and Hercs.

Boxed set right after release back in the 80's, caught the first gaming Con after that, and been hooked ever
since. So I'm a B-Tech Geek.

First played with the cardboard standups. I remember my first Battletech game, I had a 3025 Marauder and blew myself up due to heat. Bought my own set after that, upgraded to the Ral Partha pewter minis.....good times. Wow 20 years.

Started playing TT in '97... so what, 14 years? Gods I'm old. Good times though, there's nothing like blowing somebody's head of with a ERPPC.

Started in either 90 or 91 - I was around 13... Been hooked ever since, and am absolutely wonky at the thought of this game. Been waiting a LONG time for another honest run on the Mechwarrior universe! I am in the process of getting my kids into this too My oldest son is already on board when this goes live! If I could choose any one hobby to pass on to them, this may well be it. Best fictional universe ever, and I'm beyond stoked on this homecoming!

Wow, gotta admit I'm a little surprised that the 21+ category has the most votes. Myself I just hit 21 years this past summer. Got started playing from a guy I met in summer school typing class. He played with his older brother and a bunch of his friends.

Yeah, its nice to see alot of us old timers kicking around. Must be lots of mid to late 30 somethings like me reliving their childhood. Aint it great. :D
I feel like an elder statesman for the game at this point.

Just do what I did and divorce your wife ahead of time. :)

And on a side note, I checked the original Battletech I first got and the copyright was 1985. Guess its been 26 years. Holy Crap!

I still have my origanal copy of Battledroids. I found it funny that thay had to change the name to avoid a lawsuit.
Glad that it was changed.
I even have the first edition of the mechwarrior (p&p) rpg. I look foward to this new direction MWO is going in, it would be nice to acualy have a Mechwarrior game and not just another Mech sim.

I have been playing Battletech since it was on the fold out paper map that I used to play with a few of my friends on the front porch. I played Mechwarrior in two online leagues as Clan and a friend gave me this link. I would leave WoW for this.

My older brother and his mates got me into this game, I was 13, now 35. Started off on the card board maps and fold up mechs with dice, played a few of the computer games but loved the board game more.

I really hope it has options like the mech warrior RPG to run your own mercenary unit, or run your own squad from a House, with income, contracts, etc. I also hope it starts off as Inner sphere mechs, then comstar which should cover Wolfs Dragoons, then Clan Invasion, then after the clans.. as expansions...
