Joseph, you've actually pretty much just cited what Paul wants to do, it's a pitfall of poor game design and balance. A peashooter fight to prevent whining.

You think I don't know that? :( I am getting sick of how wimpy this game is getting! Pretty soon we will hit launch, and go directly to the victory screen! Cause nobody will be allowed to lose or even die in the game! :angry:

Oh and about nobody being allowed to lose. Actually the opposite will happen, eventually Mechwarriors who get more than 100 points of damage in a match will have their 'Mechs explode instantly.

All this freaking out, all these jimmies rustled, people even calling out the guy personally..

I bet money that the only thing we notice on tomorrow is that the beam duration is longer, and they are a tiny bit hotter

I appreciate the venting... That said, I'm not quite ready to castigate PGI over this just yet.

I've made the mistake previously of hopping on the "castrate Paul" bandwagon over these balance adjustments at face value without trying them first and I'm willing to give this a try before sharpening my knife. :(

The biggest contributor to this sort of shenanigans is this damn eternal search / demand for "balance"...

Balance is a lie... particularly when you have such a wide breadth of weapon mechanics.

Pretty sure PGI just did the metaphorical equivalent of of seeing the speed limit sign, and then proceeding to slam the gas, and stick it's head out the window while smoking coke and gargling nitrous oxide.

This is nonsense. The real cash cows at the moment are the Clan mechs and Clan pilots. If Paul thought about profit he would be leaving Clan weapons well alone until every Clan mech is purchasable with C-Bills.
