Looks like the next round of nerfbat beating will come down on LRMs. After that I the gauss is in for a huge hit. It still can do lots of damage at long range, something that seems to generate a lot of whine.
I wonder when the nerfing will stop.
Maybe PGI introduces hardpoint sizes at some point or imperfect convergence, recoil,.... nah. Nurf on.
ER means "Extended range" nothing to do with the speed.

Some stuff is a bit much. And its kinda ******** to make a "long range", or "sniper" weapon have slow ass speed....And ofc, the nerf takes it just a tiny bit to far. 1200ms or so woulda been a much better place to start then 1500 down to 850 and 950. 5 seconds in TG and I was like dayum, this thing is slow as **** now.....took like 2 seconds for it to travel a few hundred meters....3-4s to go 1000m....a 31st century weapon with less velocity then an ancient world ballista siege engine...
Well, at least it's always entertaining. The players clamor for nerfs, the nerfs finally happen... and the better players are still better. Nobody can take ownership for failure anymore.

Is that balanced? no, probably not. But its sure would be FREAKING AWESOME! I want see bright cracks of lighting arcing through the air from my mech! not wimpy, wiggly ball slowly drifting to my target.

Jokes aside, I really hate what they did to the PPC but I can't deny it wasn't a dominant weapon on the battlefield. I'd like to see ERPPCs actually be able to hit a moving target at 810m instead of enemy mechs casually walking out of the way and laughing.

I think PGI went the wrong way with it. IMHO long range weapons (anything doing full damage at 600m+) should have their rates of fire reduced by a decent chunk, mid range weapons slowed down slightly (strictly speaking cool-down rates here) and short range weapons left alone. PPCs should go to pre-gauss-mechanic velocities and 0-90m linear damage to offset the DPS gimp. LRMs should take a damage buff and again reduced recycle times.
To make it short and sweet. Long range weapons should dominate at long range, but short range weapons should absolutely destroy a mech sporting only long range weaponry if they manage to get in rage. Mid range weapons would be where they are kind of jack-of-all-trades weapons as just about everything with range is right now in the game.
