Now that the clan mechs have hit the game does anyone else feel that they wasted their time leveling IS mechs?

Depends on which Clan mech is in question. Some are better than IS, some are roughly on-par, and some are lemons.

In the sense that you really need to level up the Clan mechs you have before they get supernerfed into the ground, yes.

In the sense that you mean, no.

Nope; and I have all the Clan 'Mechs.

IS 'Mechs are still quite fun to run, plus they have the ability to tweak speed and gear space that the Clan 'Mechs can't match. :)

If you game strictly solo queue and have already made the choice that you will NEVER join a unit and NEVER participate in leagues and ONLY want to play using clan mechs then there is no point in using IS.

However!

If you want to join a unit, clan, house or merc corp then you will more than likely need to grind out IS mechs to use in leagues and such. Even clan units join leagues and thus have IS mechs.

It's up to you and how you want to play to get the best experiance that MWO has to offer.

So, no I do not feel I wasted anything grinding my IS mechs. I still use them.

I had a great time leveling my IS mechs and now I'm gonna have a good time leveling the clan mechs. So nope. Probably gonna sell some of my less powerful IS mechs to make space though.

Still love my STK-3, Misery, DDC, CTF-3D and Jagers - still need to XP my Shadowhawks which I will eventually get to.

I want to love my Victor, but I never really poptarted with it and I think there are better options for brawling.

But that's actually most of the IS Mechs (chassis) I own. I avoided a lot of the mechs that are clearly crap, because of hitbox issues, hardpoint locations, etc.

I abandoned my highlanders completely, zero fun playing them after repeated nerfs due to forum crybabies.

Just like my VTR isn't fun anymore, again, due to endless tears of the delicate princess panties brigade.

Yes

If you haven't already leveled out the "good" IS mechs, then IDK why you are wasting your time with garbage like the quickdraw, awesome, dragon, trebby, locust, wolverine, griffon, etc...

Any variant that can not mount a AC20, Twin gauss, XXXXX load of LRM's or ECM is not worth your time.

Unless you enjoy the game for the game itself.

First ask me, did I enjoy mastering my Jager's last year? Yes. Or Atlas? Also a yes.

It wasn't a waste because my time spent before clans was enjoyable. I am still leveling IS today, the recent mech bay challenges have led me to invest in the Banshee. Day One Vindicator incoming as well :)

Power creep. Constant "balancing" also.

These two mean that you'll devote time, money and energy to things that work today, that wont be as effective tomorrow.

Therefore, because I am not a competitive player, I just play for fun, bought some heroes for fun, and try to not "work" leveling mechs.

When the nerf hammers come or clan mechs appeared, I didn't give a ......

You know what I mean. :)

Not at all... while I've been running my Clan Mechs more lately to get their skills up... I still fall back on my IS Mediums a lot, they, by far are my most played Mechs... and I have way more run running them than anything...

Matter of fact, I just got my Master slot on my Griffin 3M unlocked... woohooo... sad, but I had been just getting all elites done and converting XP to GXP... but figured with the way the new Module slots work I might as well stop that practice...

if you don't do it, how are you going to get CBills to buy Clan mechs?

Griffin is still a very solid mech with amazing hitboxes and an ability to spread damage that makes it like fighting a giant Spider (the mech).

The 4x ASRM 6 Brawler is a terror.

only the ones that were already a waste of time to level to begin with and we only did so because we had to do 3.

Only chassis I regretted leveling, was the Cataphract. 4X was crap, my fun 1X build got nerfed due to LLaser Ghost Heat, and poptarting with the 3D was boring as hell.

Nope. Except for the Spider 5V and Ravens (back before engine cap buff). Leveling those was hell.

In some ways, I actually prefer my Treb to my Stormcrow. Make of that what you will.
