I'm not saying that spending money on MWO in its current state is a good investment, but that aside, out of the ones you have made, which one do you feel was the best?

Mine was buying the DireWolf. Hands down my favorite mech in the game. Also got the TimberWolf but i have to say i don't really enjoy it as much as i thought i would.

Founder pack was best value for money spent but fun wise for me the DireWolf has no comparison (only wish my team wouldn't leave my slow arse behind so often <_<).

Founder's Package, by far.

Why?

Simple enough. I got to play Closed Beta. Single Heat Sink Mechs. Repair and Re-arm. Imperfect Convergence. Way better looking graphics. CN9-AH Centurion. No Consumables, no 3pV. No Ghost heat, no Poptart Meta, etc.

A lot has changed since then, despite the QQ, some good, some bad.

But the months I got to play CB, even with the hit reg glitches (never seemed to hit me too bad, I ran a CN9-AH and wrecked with it, then a YLW the day it was available.), and TBH, it was more fun then. We recapture some of that feel in SMM games, but you can't replicate the convergence, the heat effects and such.

Beyond that, I can't say I have any regrets with what I have spent (Well, OK; ....Pretty Baby), though I can hope and pray future nerfs don't ruin future fun (As eventually happened with VTRs and HGNs), but unlike some, apparently, I paid for the game we had at the time I make the payment, not for what I hope it would be. Even my Clan Pack, I KNEW we would and still will be seeing many changes.

Don't care, it's still fun. But my Founder Pack, and the glitchy, crazy days of Closed Beta were by far the best investment.

My best investment is definitely the mechbays, I currently have 143.
4 from my founders package, 18 from my phoenix package, 24 from my clan package, 4 from various challenges, I did miss one challenge because I couldn't be bothered to play right then. Which leaves 93 mechbays I bought separately.

All of them are also in use as my signature shows, I did a quick count today and I appear to be missing only 15 variants at the moment, and I have at least one of everything except the vindicator, and at least three of most mechs.

Oh man... good question. I don't *regret* any of my purchases, but it's tough to pick out which is best.

I guess I'm going to go with the sentimental favorite and say Sarah's Jenner. Because **** cancer.

Probably the Hero mechs with the most hours played. Flame, Firebrand, and Dragonslayer.

Always nice to see a Comp player eschew the Meta, to masochistically play a Dragon! If more would do that, more often, probably less people would be inclined to have such negative opinions of the Compie Crowd.

The best for me was the Timber Wolf and the Nova package. I got 3 mechs and they were everything I expected and more. Plus they came with a lot of cool stuff for the early order. I especially love the Camo pattern.

I also love the Dragon Slayer, but then again, who doesn't ? <_<

I find the CERLLs to be incredibly handy for dealing with face hugging lights in my Daishi. The extra beam time lets me nuke both their legs with 1 shot.

somewhat panaceatic reasoning, as it's the same damage, now more diluted. Yes you can hit both legs, for less damage.

I would but I already spent every cbill I saved up and I sold off tens of millions in spare ( read: useless to me ) equipment just to buy these, and three of them are hero mechs that haven't been on sale yet.
I'm assuming there will be another cbill sale this weekend so I'm going to try to grind a bit this week, but there's also the Star Citizen Murray Cup release which is supposed to be this week and of course, I do have a job and a social life.
Yes really. <_<

Easy. Early Bird Talon package. For something like a $5 premium I got six colors, a camo, one month premium, c-bill boost on otherwise terrible mech and a sizeable faction loyalty boost.

The Arrow hero 'mech. It's one hell of an assassin 'mech if the enemy has exposed internals.

Buying the Firebrand. Hands down, it is the best, most beastly, hero/champion I own. Lots of different ballistic and energy build choices. High mounted too, so its easy to peek and shoot, and/or hill hump.

Honorable mention to the Protector. Sure the thing is a huge walking stove pipe, but the hard points make it very versatile. You can make it a great LRM30 with heavy secondary weapons. You can make it a frightening brawler (AC20, 3xML, 2xSSRM6+A), you can make it a mid-range fire support mech, you can do dual AC5s + LLs or PPCs. So many build choices.

But Orion CTs attracts fire like flypaper, the Firebrand, for me, is more durable because its pretty easy to spread damage on the torsos.

The best thing i got was the YLW i just love the way it works and oddly its AC20 seems to do far better than when i load an AC20 on any other Mech.

Emotionally, the $120 Legendary Founder pack was the best investment - a new BattleTech game! With devs that want to make a BattleTech FPS game, not MechWarrior Reprise! Glorious!

Financially, I've gotten my money's worth from that investment, although emotionally the result is a bit on the sour side, seeing as they've ... reconsidered ... most of the things they said they wanted to do back then.

Regardless of this game's limitations (and what we hope it to be!) I love this game. I can't say I've regretted a purchase because I truly enjoy playing the game.

But the BEST purchase? My Cataphract 4X. Great mech, she surprises brawlers and lights alike with her power and flexibility!

Seriously.

My best investment? The $ I spent extending the RC website and TS server. Without the group, I'd've stopped playing six months ago.

Phoenix mediums (even if the Wolverine is a potato and the Griffin I don't care much for,) and a bunch of heroes. worth every penny I spent on them.

but most of all...

Applejack F*****n' Light Orange.
