The code is "I Am Groot Human".

It's probably going to be a spaceship driving game, sort of like a Star Cit/EvE spinoff.

Huh. I tried typing in "human" but didn't try it as a phrase.

There is a huge glut of spaceship flying games to come, from fighters to battleships to procedurally generated planets to Star Citizens mishmash of all the things.

We know we will be "pilots" but I hope it's not just another zero g spaceship shooter. Something more like combined arms with tanks, hovers, and aircraft or a CRPG would be something to stand out while another space sim is just another little fish in a big pond (and I already bought an SC ship)

I've told Paul on numerous occasion to make a DinoRiders game but this seems distressingly short on theropods.

Yah, the space sim genre is getting crowded. I'm already deep into Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous, so not sure I want a 3rd in my game queue. Will be interesting though!

Looking forward to the same dedicated support Mechwarrior Tactics got.
Where's the news on that, BTW?

Meh, PGI was never involved in Tactics. Barking up the wrong tree.

Questions, questions. What is this? What is that? Am I human? Is this thread real? Get the popcorn because it is going to be a good one.

I will play Ghost Bear and wait and see before I get all huffy like some puffed up freeborn child's plaything. We have the Inner Sphere map, now we can wait for another half a year, right? Kidding. Or am I? Only partially.

Why do I feel my money is going into this game ala tactics?
Is it why MWO has been moving at the snail's pace it has?
How do you expect to get another round of people to buy into this game's vision the same way you dd the founders, especially since we rarely see them these days?

Okay. I had this from the first page... You are serious? Really? You must try harder then, quiaff? Your ELO is too low. I see founders all the time in my matches. From the Pheonix tags, to the Founders. All three levels, including Legen-waitforit-dary ones. Some of them are bitter, but I think a majority are still playing. Would love to see those sort of stats TBH. But really. Go practice more, get out of Solo que, something. I see founders in almost every match I drop in.

^this first.

Also MWT went the way of the dodo because they never got the grasp to succeed with an IP, you do not make the Death Star a Borg Cube.

It makes sense though. It is hard to imagine PGI will ever get another big influx of cash like the clan packs brought in, especially considering the disappointment many founders and long term players feel. [edit: e.g. how many of you would buy another phoenix or clan type package again?] They need more than the slow trickle that MWO will likely continue to generate.

With that in mind, they decided to take a risk on drawing in new investor/early access backer money for something new. Hopefully this doesn't end up like World of Darkness or Dust 514 did for another game company. Their core fan base didn't really react well either for many of the same reasons people have listed above.

The genre makes sense though. Space cockpit games are really where a lot of the money seems to be at-- that is if Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous didn't suck it all out.

I'm curious to see where this will go, honestly. Will it tie into MWO? Will it be on an engine that actually works well for most machines, like Unreal? Would stuff like MC become a universal PGI currency that works between these two games, or is it still gonna be static to MWO, since not gonna lie, I've been sitting on some Founder MC for awhile now for just the right reason to spend it.

Are questions like these going to be answered when the 9th comes around?

I'm curious about the MC as well, I have MC I'll never spend after quitting MWO over a year ago (it came with my founders pack) but it's highly unlikely I'll pay anything for this new game considering my interest in other space related games. If it's a free-to-play I might check it out but I'm not expecting much more than a match based game like MWO with spaceships.

Whoever came up with this has managed to simultaneously underestimate the strength of the mechwarrior IP and overestimate the communities love for PGI. This is going to fail miserably.

I will make sure that buyers beware about this game. PGI/IGP you ruined the MechWarrior franchise. Give up the IP. You blew it.

I have nothing to say except things that would probably get me banned... so all I will say is this.... thank goodness I have moved away from this game long ago.

PGI has taught me that it is important to look at not only what dev team is working on a game, but the people that work for that company and the history. Never again will I give money to a "PGI".

The only way they're going to be able to put out a game is if PGI, Russ, Bryan, and Paul undergo full legal name changes, because there's no anybody is going to invest in a new title if any one of their names are attached to an IP.

Except for the usual relationships between IGP and PGI. And the games being on the same servers. At least until MWO moved and MWT vanished into the ether. I mean, if they weren't under the same management, why would MWT selfdestruct from the datacenter move if they were two entire separated entities? Wouldn't it just simply have remained, being run by someone who was never involved? :)

Yes, because IGP is the publisher, and both games were sharing a server even though PGI (game development, art, etc) didn't do anything for Tactics. IGP (marketing, QA, etc) was shared. Technically I don't think we know if IGP is also publishing auniversetoexplore or not.

If someone wants to blame IGP for Tactics' failure, sure. If someone wants to blame PGI for MWO's failures, go for it. But there's nothing to indicate anyone at PGI had anything to do with Tactics at any stage. The games shared a server because they shared a publisher.
