Rofl, for those of us who have been saying you guys are being had for two years now...this is hilarious. Im sorry for you guys, but, we told you.

Megamek will always be there for you though.

And with the current discussion, CN9 is absolutely right. If youre already a battletech fan, youre not a new player. And most of us with alot of love for Battletech, think this game is a steaming pile. Free is all it has going for it. No ones going to come along from this game, to their next game. They burned this community. Theyre going to have to generate an entirely new fanbase. Ive been gaming for 30+ years and have watched a huge number of companies act in various ways with various results, and back when #savemwo hit Reddit...this game was finished. I cant blame PGI for doing this. They have to earn a living. From a business stand point, its time to move on. Then again, they failed miserably at adding anything original to the IP...they actually made it worse with alot of vague choices they made, and horrible community management. They did it to themselves. And as always, its the hardcore fans who suffer.

Yes I make 250k a year, from sponsorship.

Also why am I a dummy? because I am saying the opposite of what your feeling, or something you might say?

I base it off of friends like growth and friends list activity. It has bigger and more active than it was years ago. That is just one way, I could do extensive research.

We can divide back and forth as much as we want, PGI still won't release a player count that would tell us exactly how things are. They say it's not because player count is dwindling, I most certainly have my doubts about that. What I do know is a huge amount of BT fans have been put off by the direction this game has gone, and even I that aren't familiar with the BT lore can only agree with them. And these are guys that would pay plenty to keep this game healthy, and only the most naive fellas still can fool themselves into believeing half of what PGI says anymore. And now they're going to shift their focus on another game, and some still claim it's a good thing. I can only double facepalm and wish these guys a happy dream in lala land.

Cornered Rat Software wouldnt release theirs either. Thats because World War Two Online was tanking.

After youve seen multiple companies do the same thing. You know why.

Every successful game, they publish those numbers. Theyre proud of it. Planetside, Path of Exile, World of Tanks, even Toribash.

Hell you can get a total player count in Facebook games.

The only reason they dont release that info, is that they dont want to publicize to their publisher, that theyre unsuccessful. The people with the money are more likely to cut their losses and youre out of a job.

Community service message -

If you hate something or someone and yet find yourself constantly hounding it or them just to tell them you hate them...

You're a stalker. Don't be a creepy stalker guy.

If you don't like MW:O or you don't trust PGI to make a new game you'll like I totally get that. I just don't agree. I have fun at MW:O when I play it. If they make a new game I like I'll play it too. If I don't like it.... I won't play it.

See how that works?

Except thats not how it works in a F2P, online only game. If like MW Tactics, the game server is turned off, YOU DON"T GET TO CHOOSE. So you can keep spending money until the day it dies, without ever knowing you're on the precipice. And suddenly, everything you spent is gone, and you DON"T GET TO PLAY. That is our concern.

Its not that simple with art. The reason people are hounding people and PGI is because they love, not hate, mechwarrior, battletech, and what this game could be.

When you enjoy an IP, be it a movie, comic, game, book, whatever, and it changes mediums and has multiple remakes and iterations, you generally come along for the ride wherever the IP holder takes you, and you judge it based on its merit.

Did I stop watching Star wars movies because the Phantom Menace sucked? Of course not. But the Phantom Menace still sucked. It doesnt change that fact.

People get upset because they love the series. PGI is just a stop along a long, long road. There wll always be more mechwarrior titles.

See how that works?

Remember when playing games was about playing games? If you don't like the game, go play whatever. If you are\arn't excited about a game no one outside of PGI knows anything about, you're pretty dim either way.

If you're concerned about where your money is going in relation to MWO, there is already a thread in the MWO Offtopic section for that.

Oh and this guy? Look at his Sig. You should all know better than to respond at ALL to this thread. (So should I but ho-hum)

Also serious question time now: when did the Battletech community become so horrible? Every single Battletech forums I go to these days is absolutely disgusting. The MechWarrior subreddit is so full of entitled man children it makes me weep a little. Play the game or don't. In fact the only place that didn't seem disgusting was the MegaMekWars server.

Play the game guys, just don't sh*t up the place.

The only time playing mechwarrior, was just about playing mechwarrior, was in 1996.

Ever since then, its been more than that. It sold alot of copies, it became a part of peoples childhood, it introduced people to the board game and universe, the IP et all...people have legitimate expectations.

And youre crazy. Mekwars is, as much as I love it and play pretty often, a bunch of men children. Were all men children. Thats why were in our 30s and 40s and playing video games. As far as the entire battletech community goes, were the people who first coined the term "munchkin" in reference to people who min max. Its a great community that loves sportsmanship, competition, and the game FASA made almost 50 years ago.

It just disgusts us when someone rapes our beloved IP, cashes in on that love we have for it, then drops it.

Which is hilarious that all you founders, who are actually losing something, arent bothered by this. I mean when you cant log in, and youve dropped hundreds of dollars on it...thats not gonna bum you out?

More than it bums me out that the intellectual property I love gets ***** occassionally. I mean for us Battletech fans its not that new really...we went through the clans being created in the first place, Max tech, and rotary autocannons and ****. This is just a bump in the road.

If you preordered and paid for a car, but ended up getting only 3 wheels, you might be pretty pissed about it and want to tell people about this company that ripped you off. Now multiply that as many times as there are founders that feel they got duped and you know why there are a lot of pissed off former MWO fans. I'm not a founder, but really how hard is it to understand their anger?

:/ This might be "just" some game to you.

But for me battletech is very near and dear, there is no "other" MW game out there, the community spent a very long time waiting between mw4 and this.

And quite honestly, i think you are missing the point / not actually reading the content of people not responding to John.

Because seriously, any of us who have been a fan of battletech since at least the 80s...were used to this. We expect it. There was a time when there were no clans. There was no such thing as an ER medium laser.

Then we watched Max Tech happen. We saw FASA lose the IP. We saw Mechwarrior 4. Mechcommander. Zipper and Microsoft. Were used to it. It makes us tougher lol.

Maybe we're finally going to get the sequel we've all been waiting for - Big Bass Pro Fishing 2 !

A fishing game where you're a sc-fi pilot? ... I'd give it a try, that's pretty unique.
