Lance Challenge

I would agree that perhaps a new challenge should consist of "small group" (2-4) to allow for those that just want to play with one or two friends. Also reduce the point awards for NARC/TAG to 1 point and possibly introduce Counter ECM and/or UAV spotting bonus.
With my limited time, I only went for the Mechbay, which is plenty for me. I made a few million CBills using the 3-day premium plus (I) and Hero mechs, so didn't really need to get the top tier reward.
p.s. - Could we not have to see the "BIG RED X" for challenges we did not complete? Only list the challenges we completed, or minimize those we did not complete (smaller font, unchecked checkbox, something less obvious).

Sadly, it wasn't conducive to conquest. Not sure how you fix that unless capping gives a large bonus.

It seems an error had taken place in the sale manager system. Please contact us at support if you purchased one of the On-Sale Mechs for SUNDAY. We will be happy to reimburse you for your missing MC.
We are also resetting this missed sale to take place on Tuesday, tomorrow, for those who missed out.
I just checked and I do not see the sale......is it at 10 am Pacific time or Central time?
BELAY MY LAST......it's all better now. Thanks!

What else could I say. Well, for the next one, as several other posters have noted, the ability to drop in groups other than size 4 would greatly be appreciated. Maybe alter the rewards a little bit... Like a pair win, 2 extra points, trio win, 3 extra... and for groups 5+ maybe a small C-bill bonus or something, but still only 4 extra points.
Also... maybe introduce incentives to use more direct fire weapons. Some of the following are actually not just ideas for challenges, but more overall musings. Several could work well as achievements, too.
Kill a mech of weight X.
Kill a mech of each tonnage, from 20 to 100.
Kill a mech of each weight class (for extra difficulty, in single game).
Kill a mech of weight X, both IS AND clan (for extra difficulty, in the same game).
Kill a Phoenix mech.
Kill a Phoenix mech of each weight class.
Kill an ECM equipped mech with Streaks.
Kill a golden mech.
Kill a hero / champion mech (of each weight class).
Kill a founder mech (of each weight class).
Kill a mercenary / lone wolf / Steiner / Davion, etc mech.
Kill a mech from each available clan.
Kill a jumping mech.
Kill a mech by cutting of both legs.
Kill a mech with machine guns.
Kill a mech with flamers.
Kill a mechwarrior without destroying the entire head.
Kill multiple turrets in one game.
Kill a mech that is capturing your base / resource controlled by your team.
Kill all four members of a single lance.
Kill all existing variants of specific mech (including the hero).
Kill a camouflaged mech.
Get both a kill and an assist in the same game (for extra difficulty, of the same weight class).
Get a kill / assist on all available maps.
Get a kill while jumping.
Get more than (3?) savior kills in a single game.
Capture the enemy base as the last remaining mech / while all four of your lance are in it / using only mechs of specific weight class (more than one).
Capture the enemy base with a mech that has no (functional) weapons.
Capture the enemy base with a (non-)jump capable mech.
Capture the enemy base with an undamaged mech.
Capture the enemy base with one legged mech.
Headcap someone with / without targeting computer.
Kill someone while the target's warhorn is playing.
Score a hit beyond a weapons long range.
Score a hit on a target outside your LOS.
Survive a match in a trial mech (of each weight class).
Survive a match with a mech that has no (functional) weapons.
Survive a match with a one legged mech.
Survive more than one ammo explosion in a single battle.
Survive more than one artillery or air strike in a single battle.
Survive a match after overheating more than (3?) times.
Be the only survivor of your lance.
Be the only one to die from your own team. (Achievement: "That was not very smart, was it?")
Get killed by static defense (turrets).
Get killed by fall damage. (Achievement: "That slope was slippery... right?")
Detect a shutdown mech with a Beagle probe.
Detect multiple mechs with the seismic sensor in one game.
Damage all enemy hit locations (without missiles).
Hit enemy in the head more than once without killing the target (without missiles).
Hit enemy on both arms / legs / all three (rear) torsos / head and a leg / arm with a single shot.
Win a game with an undamaged mech (of each weight class) while doing at least (x?) damage.
Win a game without using any ammo (on a mech that has ammo based weapons).
Win a game in a mech that has ECM, Tag, Narc, Beagle probe and at least one AMS.
Win a game where you disrupted enemy ECM either by using your own in counter mode or PPC fire.
I know some of the above are not that imaginative, but both the challenges and achievements could, in my opinion, use some additional variety. Yes / no?

Trust me, it was way funner being on Comms with three other people than playing alone Hippy. I don't think I would have finished Tier 3 If not for the new friends I found on NG:NG and Steiner Hub. Way way better than playing in silence.

Well of course, but at the same time this event could have been a solo challenge that allowed you to rack up points in the solo queue or the group queue while talking to people on comms in groups of any size. The way points were acquired was irrelevant to the size of the group or the arbitrary requirement of exactly four people. As a group event it rings hollow is all I am saying.

My friends and I ended up picking up pug players. One of my friends was very good at this and I've decided that he will be the Unit Diplomat (BTW can we add in special titles or something into the unit management so that we can keep ranks for members but assign them specialties?). Only 2 of us reached the mech'bay and that is all we shot for because we knew we wouldn't be able to get to the third tier in time, which we are fine with because we are very thankful for the free mech'bay. I'm happy that one of us learned how to easily pick up new players to join us, but unfortunately most of them weren't very talkative since they only wanted the points and not so much the social experience. However, I do really like the suggestions other people have made about variable group sizes!
As for gameplay (at least of Monday night):
We traded off roles. I ran in my Cicada 3M with ECM, 1xPPC, 1xTag, 2xMLas so that I could still get hits (and surprisingly quite a bit of kills) and get tons of Tag/Narc bonuses. While I was doing this my friends ran in trial 'mechs that actually had LRMs since they themselves did not own 'mechs that did. That being said, one of us stuck to his Thunderbolt sniper'mech for most of the matches because he wants to get the XP on it... Which worked out just fine because we integrated his build into our tactics! After I got my bay I switched to using my LRM boats (Catapult, Jager, Atlas, Stalker) and let them get the Tag/Narc bonuses for as long as we were able to stay up and play.
I really liked this challenge because it encouraged people to explore roles outside of sniper'mechs. I really liked the way people started actually using tactics outside of the big ball of death, or just standing at one end of the map trying to out-sniper the other guys. Sure there were a few matches where we got killed by a non-stop rain of LRMs, but I also noticed a lot more people being aware of their surroundings and the battlefield (situational awareness yay!). I watched as people stuck closer to cover or took different routes on the map than I usually see, which is great for changing up the gameplay.
I think you've got a great thing going on here with this challenge, and I like some of the suggestions other MechWarriors have made on this thread about improving things. Keep up the good work PGI, and thanks for listening to us!

This challenge though out of all of them I have to say was the most fun. I met a lot of cool people and had some fun.
As for how i completed it was not even using tag or narc. Just Kill Assists and Spot Assists did it for me. I even had one match I got 4 Kills 8 Kill Assists and then I noted 14 Spot Assists. That was a great match I spent most of it in my DDC spotting my own lrm targets which other allies fired at as well.

will be looking forward to getting social features/lobbies/chat etc integrated with the game for CW so I don't have to go scouring the interwebs and challenges like this are a snap to get into like other online games.
Not a QQ post, but genuinely am looking forward to when they do this. Should have been done years ago.
