I was working on pretty much this exact post over the last couple days Bishop, pretty funny coincidence :P

If you want I can run it by you in a PM and we can talk about setting it up as a pinned thread to gather a compilation of constuctive ideas that people in the community have come up with, such as Konivings armor rebelance concept, so that the devs have some easy access to a list of ideas the community has more less agreed are worth looking at.

Might want to CC it to Niko or Egomane too. Just because some of what we are discussing might skirt the CoC. But sure, sounds fine.

Since the announcement of AnotherUniverse, I've been up, down and sideways with my reactions. It's actually kind of crazy, considering we're all just discussing a computer game.

At this point, I'm hopeful... That's all I can really say. I hope that ditching IPG is what PGI needed to make this game something special. I hope that PGI actually listens to the core fans and begins to tailor the game to suit. I hope that PGI gives me a reason to spend more money on MWO.

That's it.... Fingers and toes crossed now.

Good luck PGI.

Well put.

Glad you could make some a useful contribution to the community then. Buh bye.

If you expect to make snide remarks like the one you did, because my post wasn't in line with your point of view, expect to get them back. i.e. pull your big boy pants up and act like one.

Discussion is not 1 way.

So, next Phase of CW happening end of fall is somehow delayed from being released....during the Fall? (When Russ even said as close as he would give a time was anytime up til dec 21 , way back when?)

The funny thing is you don't even see how fall and dec 21st is not the same thing at all. Unless fall in Canada usually has snowstorms.

thanks for the engine input. Any idea what the purchase options were at the time? (I know that can be asking a lot and hard to find, but just curious if anyone was juggling engines 3 years ago would know)

Unreal is, for this, the better choice, and even before I bought my Founders, I wondered at CryEngine.... yet the "Messiah", Chris Roberts seemed to have found reason for CryEngine also, so............? (I don't claim to have the answer to that, as I ain't a programmer)

Sadly I don't think my googlefu is strong enough to find the old licensing fees since any google search just brings up the new price points. The only thing I know for certain is that more games run on Unreal (not even including the free SDK that Epic released) than CryEngine. Interestingly there's already more games lined up to use Unreal 4 than the entirety of games using CryEngine. Whether that's because of price point, inertia, or because perceived (or in many cases real) benefits of one over the other is up for debate.

CryEngine is supposed to come with a bunch of perks. Namely that you're supposed to get direct support from Crytek staff anytime you have an issue with the engine. You can also directly request for features to be put into the engine, though there's no guarantee that they'll be put in obviously. Considering what PGI had created before this, the support staff may have been a large contributing factor into their choice at the time.

The one major benefit of CryEngine is that you can make pretty things with CryEngine. Very pretty things. Sadly MWO hasn't taken advantage of that, but if they ever do decide to they can make absolutely gorgeous visuals with CryEngine that you wouldnt have been able to match in UE3.

Oh come on, you very rarely have anything negative to say about PGI. You know it, I know it and everybody who've read your posts know it. Most of the time you're blasting people that do have negative things to say. If that's your way of being objective, well let's just say we have very different definitions of what objective means.

And LOL at fall meaning Dec 21st, are we talking about falling of snow?

Autumn/Fall: Begins on the September Equinox (around Aug 8th) and ends on the Winter Solstice, Usually December 21-22.

A quick reminder that CW was supposed to be out 'Soon' after the Release Party.

You guys remember that right?

Are we going by middle age definitions of fall or something? Here I thought we lived in the present, silly me. I'd like you to walk up to people and tell them it's still fall on the 20th of December, people will just laugh at you.

I'm not going to post it again, but holy heck did the original teaser for this game.... using the Unreal engine.... look far and away better and more awesome than what we have now.

yeah, but the Mech designs blew chunks. That Atlas looked like a pudgy MechAssault reject, lol.

yeah...last thing I want is an armor buff. Or all weapons made DoT. There are mechanics that can increase TTK and Immersion and Gameplay variety without turning this into PapercutWarrior: Online. The problem is, no matter how much "realism" or immersion things like situational expanding reticles/CoF (Running at high speeds, Jumping, things that pretty much ALL FPS have them for), the so called "church of skill" types cry against it, because apparently the height of skill is clicking a pixel unimpeded. I guess that is the difference between Video Game and Real World skill....IRL, skill is about understanding limitations and obstacles and finding ways to overcome it. In video games, apparently "skilled players" want all the obstacles and limitations removed.

Regardless, at this point, we can keep giving input, criticism and suggestions, but other than that, it's largely wait and see.

This is where I issue a rare bit of praise and Russ said it again they won't go (subject to change of position) the CoF route and im glad.

Mechwarrior thus far has always had an aiming component where those with the best aim would compete at the top.

Now if it was easy as you claim it to be Bishop we would all be walking around with 90%+ accuracy hitting nothing but CT repeatedly.

As it is; the reality is far different than that.

It depends on weather you agree with my viewpoint or not ;-) let's face it if everyone agreed the world would be much more boring and simple.

And we all hate debating equally as stubborn as ourselves.

This is not a middle age definition. It's a meteorological definition. Check a calendar for yourself if you don't believe me. Dec 21 or 22 is always the 1st day of Winter.

We had pretty things, once. IN CB. But people with Legacy Computers with name sliek Pentium complained they could not play, and so they mucked down the graphics...then mucked them further with all sorts of visual gunk that still take too much processing power for a lot of lower end/older systems.

OP i agree 100% with what you said if not at 110%.

I am also one of the people who said the MWO liscense should go to another studio.

I have a very limited number of posts on the forums however my constructive criticism stopped on July 2013 when the infamous ghost heat came out and all that followed it. I do not want to see this game burn, far from it.

However the current state of the game is unacceptable, we basically have 1 game mode that goes into 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, they are identical except for a base or multiple bases to capture. The balance is being determined by a roll of dices ( at keast this is true to the TT) and the worse of all is the lack of communication with the players, they will listen to those who scream for nerf on the forums but totaly ignoring those who been offering solutions for free, a very notorious one in the domain is Homeless Bill.

For a game that is over 2 years old, that been selling a lot of premium stuff at insane prices ( 500$ gold mechs that later received the whole package) and that has no content apart from the core gameplay is a shame. Even features we had in beta got cut off, in cockpit functional screens, mechs collisions, falling trees and minimum environmental destruction maybe? This game launched in 2012 if it wasnt viable then now its 2014 and most computer hardware are 2 generations newer so no excuse to not implement those features. If your computer cant run all of them well you have the options menu for this.

I want this game to work, i want it to succeed even become a E-sport but after all this it is hard to stay positive. Other free to play game are doing so much better than this, Warframe been running for less time, is still in Beta and have much much more content than MWO, like it or hate but Digital extreme are handling the game with precision and are listening to the community.

MWO need to be successful, it has to work because it is the revival of a legendary franchise, its normal to have bumps at first first but after 2 years with nearly nothing to offer and a first year of Beta more exciting than the released game is a fail.

Maybe i contributed to the cancer on the forums and i apologize for this but if being nice doesnt work at all, well then you try the next best thing...

All joking aside - if somebody tells you they will do something "In the Fall", most regular people would expect it to happen before the very last minute of the very last day.

Just sayin'

No one walks around a few days before Christmas and think it's fall anymore, that's the way it is. That you'd need to fall back on an old definition of fall no one lives by to be able to meet deadlines is just sad.

I vaguely remember that. I really did adore the old burn animations on mechs when lasers hit and the glowey bits. They were extremely intensive on computers though, which I assume was just some bad optimization moreso than the animation itself being all that graphically intensive. I also miss my wubs. My poor poor wubs.
