Question About Hero Mechs
#1
Posted 08 September 2014 - 10:28 AM
1. Can you swap out weapons on a hero mech or are they fixed.
2. Will they eventually release a hero mech for each different battle mech? Direwolf is my favorite mech so should I wait until they release a hero Direwolf? Is that even likely or am I pulling at straws?
Any help or comments are appreciated!

And yes, they will eventually make a Hero mech for each chassis.
You just can't change the camo pattern on Hero mechs....but you can change the colors.
You may be waiting a while for a Clan hero mech though...

Isn't that essentially what the "PRIME" versions are?

1 - yes u can change everything but the camo
2 - a) yes . b ) if u want a Dire Hero mech you need to PreOrder it.. the Prime that you get should have an " i " in brackets ex: DireWolf Prime(I) <--- if it shows that it considered a "hero" and you get ur 30% more cbills

If you PreOrdered yes.. the Primes you can buy now in game for cbills are not.. they need to have the (I) next to the name

The Invasion series Primes are essentially Heroes...but not technically true Hero mechs. That is they will be releasing actual Hero versions of Clan mech eventually, but not until after the Clan invasion "pre-order" promotion is over (at which point Invasion series Prime variants will no longer be available).

Has has been pointed out, not all Prime variants have a bonus. Conversely, not all mechs with a bonus count as Hero mechs. Founders, Phoenix, and Invasion mechs all carry a C-Bill bonus, but none are considered Heros. If they were we wouldn't need Hellslinger, Grid Iron, Jester, Boar's Head, or... X-5? I can never remember what the Founder light was.

I believe the Founder light was a Jenner.

Edit: It's the Jenner JR7-D
Off the top of my head:
Founder: 25% CB
Hero: 30% CB
Phoenix: 30% CB, 10% Loyalty
Champion: 10% XP
Sarah's Jenner: 10% XP

Doh!
It is.
JR7-D, HBK-4G, CPLT-C1, and AS7-D.
...all I had to do was check my profile page, and I got it wrong

Sorry for the blonde moment

My only excuse is that the first thing I did when I got into closed beta was to buy a Commando - I never did like the Jenner and haven't piloted it much.
Well back then with streaks chewing out the CT, the Commando was a beast. Jenner-D is my first light and will always have a mechbay for it, much like my first mech ever, the 4SP.

Nah, Streaks didn't have the CT-seeking behaviour back in closed beta, that came later. In fact, back then you could actually miss with Streaks, since they had a limited turn rate.
And no ECM either, and no DHS, and you could drop with less than 10 heat sinks.
Now imagine trying to keep a 14 SRM + ML Commando cool on the 7 SHS your XL 195 engine came with...
It was a challenge. Fun, but a challenge

That sounds like fun times, especially no ECM and streaks that makes sense. What the heck went wrong eh?
