MechWarrior 3 had the Mobile Field Base composed of three massive vehicles:
MechWarrior 4 had this collapsible Mobile Field Base (and some other types)
Both provided a significant boost to your team (as long as you kept them intact).

I have always wondered: What is the point of defending a fire base, a space port,a factory or some other military facility, if you can not repair or re-arm you 'Mech there? Some BattleMechs have been designed with this exact purpose in mind.
It was a nice balancing of possibilities in older MechWarrior games: Should I leave the defensive line and get repaired and risk that defense will fail in my absence, or should I stay in fight and maybe get killed because I decided not to get my 'Mech repaired, while the MFB behind me sits empty?

for somebody unfamiliar with fishing a trout fighting back with lasereyes makes a "fishing simulator*" more exciting, too.
it just doesn't belong or fit in-universe, and thus it should never be in any battletech-related game;
simple repairs take days in btech, weeks to months on complicated stuff; you can't just apply 'instant heal, just add water'.
having those repair-in-10second-pods in previous mechwarrior-titles was a grave mistake, and I'm glad they're not in mwo;
though it turns out in mw5 there is one / a few? so, there's that..
fire away, lasereyed trouts!
*yes, these things exist, I kid you not.

In the multiplayer of MechWarrior 4 these MFBs made the gameplay more interesting.
Respawns were possible, but far in the backfield. MFB were much closer to the front and thus returned your team's repaired 'Mechs faster to the battle.
But I understand that MFBs might be not your kind of tea.

Maybe we could have a common repair bay that can't be destroyed and the teams have to NASCAR around it to get repaired.

again: it's nothing that exists in-universe, so why should it be there?
next thing we're gonna see is warp-speed for the trekkies and lightsabers for the sw-fans.
..damned, now I want my sandworm-ride!
..
anyhow.. PGI is gonna do what they did the last years, which is ******, except now there's gonna be no more new mechpacks. so.. not gonna happen ANYway.

I've been advocating the use af start/finish lights for ages now; could be so much more fun with it
p.s.:
does anybody else interpret the safety-car in the background as the "wait for me, support your lurmssaults"-guy, big yellow lights, slow as f*ck and all? ^^
