I can agree though that I don't like the general direction gaming has taken in the last decade.
I'm a member of the first generation that grew up with games from the start. I started with the most primitive **** there was outside of pong (Atari and NES in the mid '80s) and have seen pretty much the entire evolution of the industry.
Most of the games I play now have online forums like this one where everyone and anyone with a worthless opinion comes in and thinks they can get what they want by bitching loud enough that the staff will be forced to do something. I really don't like it since the result is endless cycles of nerf this, buff that, change this, revert this back to that as the politics that have now been created (for a ******* VIDEO GAME OF ALL THINGS) ebb and flow.
You can't please everyone, that's just a basic fact of life. If you try to lower yourself to the least common denominator all you will do is water down your product. I've seen it time and time again now; games get simplified from previous versions to cater to a wider audience (console gamers, I'm looking at you primarily) at the expense of the hard core players and fans of the series or genre.
Anyway, rant over. I guess this was off topic because it didn't have anything to do with promised release dates being pushed back or promises not being delivered. I'm just sick of the the constant "paper is OP, please nerf scissors" and "OMFG LOL OMG BBQ P2W BS" **** you see spewed on the forums. And not just this game, but pretty much any of them now.

Unlike literally everyone else in this thread, I can see where Crusher's coming from. The black, looming spectre of Commodity Warfare has been poisoning this game for as long as it's been a game, with incredibly unrealistic expectations, explosively toxic so-called customers doing everything they can to sabotage the game because they didn't get this one thing they wanted, and an impossible amount of whinging and butthurt because people can't Become Hanse Davion yet. Considering the fact that only a small subsection of the player base will actually derive any enjoyment or benefit from Commodity Warfare (you're not part of a large, rigidly organized player-run unit? Commodity Warfare has absolutely nothing to offer you), it's often struck me as completely ridiculous. Especially since those players most fervently screeching over Commodity Warfare are just as eager to discard the concerns and feedback of everyone else in the forums who's going to be losing a significant chunk of their game when CW releases as those selfsame players are accusing Piranha of doing.
That said...there's a reason independent news sites were covering MWO's community issues back around the release of 3rd-person view, Crusher. For a stretch of time back there the company was absolutely horrid, openly insulting and ridiculing its players whilst also missing every single delivery deadline they bothered to set to us in the first place. I'm a sucker for MechWarrior, which is why I'm here, but even the whitest of knights were feeling pretty tarnished for a time there. There are certainly some dense, bitter chuckleheads out there who're assuming that Piranha's the same company it was back then, while most of us have acknowledged that the company has improved markedly since those days...but we still remember those days. What little goodwill and positive reputation Piranha does have with their playerbase is still very fragile, and is at this point entirely contingent upon them delivering Commodity Warfare within the timeframe they've set out.
They hit their first due date with CW module 1. They've thus bought themselves some small grace with most reasonable players, but if they miss their due dates on the rest of CW, especially after putting up a second large real-money Clan pack...well, even the sanest and most reasonable of us will be finding it pretty difficult to believe that IGP was really the problem at that point. Even those folks who actively dislike Commodity Warfare and are actually rather dreading the huge bite it'll take out of their game are admitting by now that it's time and past time that Piranha kick the damn thing out there already. If it's not perfect (spoilers: it's not going to be), then they can work on it and adjust it in the live game the way they do everything else.

In that TownHall interview thing, they claimed that 3/4s of the pillars were in game...
No ******* idea how anybody could claim that.

Edit * First the fall speed indicator was in standard units
Edit ** Then it was converted to metric, like um, everything else in the game
Edit *** Oh and then they made it larger than size 4 font.

If this problem was fixed. would it lead to better a game?
would we actually have the features maps and gameplay modes promised since the begging?
the answer is no.
all the community does is serve to remind all of us devs included that this is still not the mechwarrior vison that we were sold.
instead of viewing the community as hostile and instead of viewing them for what they truly are, rabid
battle tech fans who just want moar battle tech and just focus on giving them battle tech.
thats the true fix.
its been the problem from the beginning, in my opinon pgi has never been 100% dedicated to this game
this has resulted in the issues we see .
the community is only a reflection of the curreng state of the game.

A fair point. That said, am I really wrong? Heh...any time this sort of thread goes up, ninety percent of its population consists of people with "COMMUNITY WARFARE: GIVE IT TO US" signatures lambasting Piranha as brutally and vitriolically as possible because the one thing they want hasn't turned up yet.
You're perfectly justified in being upset about that, and I'll back you up plenty if Commodity Warfare slips again after the introduction of another RMT package...but you need to remember that to players like me, Community Warfare is actively harmful and detrimental to my experience and honestly stands a good chance of driving me away from the game entirely since the game I like to play would no longer be supported or viable. Heh...as such, you'll have to pardon me if I'm not as unreasonably, venomously eager to see MWO make the transition to Commodity Warfare as someone with a "COMMUNITY WARFARE: GIVE IT TO US" signature is, hmm?

I don't like to presume what is happening in someone else's head.
So I don't know if they are or were 100% committed or whatever.
I just know that the game I was sold in 2012 has failed to materialize in any meaningful way, all the while watching PGI make... questionable decisions and heavy-handed responses up to and including essentially telling us, the Founders, that we were no longer the target audience...
