I've tried to put together builds for Clan mechs over at Smurfy's and can never get anything put together that would make me pay for them. All the fixed items just limit them too much for me. So, I hop in my Arrow (AC20 - 3mlas), and rake in the cash. It's got decent speed, can skirmish, and hits like a truck for its size. I kill IS mechs and Clan mechs (2 - 5 kills per game average) all day long, and have fun doing it. Do I get absolutely steamrolled on occasion? Yep. But it doesn't matter because I'm consistent with my damage numbers, and almost always take at least one with me even on an early death. Point is, my IS rides are simply more fun.

I have no idea honestly. I came into the stream later. It was CERTAINLY in the latter half though, that's all I can give you. It was like 3AM here and I was getting sleepy by that point, but I do 100% assure you, there was a claim of no more "Major" changes.

So I guess my question is what are the plans to get people to keep fielding IS mechs, as more and more clan mechs become available for C-bills I when I look at my options for a drop think that the clan mechs just out class their IS counterparts. The Madcat is a pretty classic example, as soon as I had one I sold my Jagers and my highlander, as well as my catapults. It was a no Brainer it has jump jets, can mount ballistics, can boat lasers, can drop a missile platform, it can fill any of the rolls that any of the 3 other mechs could do but quite frankly do them better. With the exception of the IS light mechs that seem able to get a speed advantage over most clan mechs. I can't see any reason to use IS mechs again, I have sold off my stable all but my trusty Jenner that is for the cbills to collect Clan tech and mechs. Am I the only one that feels this way ? What are peoples thoughts ? And if a dev eyes fall on this post can you shed some light on how you plan to prevent MWOL from becoming Timberwolf Online when the drop for c-bills in Nov lol.

cuz I don't need Clan Tech Crutches?

I do beleive in the town hall meeting yesterday, the words "No more changes to Clan Mechs, we're happy with where they are now." were uttered. So I dunno.

Maybe they're done?

haha maybe they only made a command post about it 6 days ago.

nerf clans and buff IS. Maybe I didn't read it right.

Do the Clans have a WubShee?

I don't think so.

Then again, I don't have the good Clan mechs. After the heat nerfs killed my WubFox, and didn't leave the Nova faring much better, I've gone back to most of my IS builds.

There is a Wub Crow!

Then there is...this...play it at your own risk (and mebbe don't alpha...)

:D

EDIT: I decided to build it and take it into the testing grounds, alternating 3 then 3 CLPLs was surprisingly not awful...

Would you rather drive a Miata or a Camry? IS is more fun (in my opinion), while Clan does just about everything better. It's all about the feels. :D

Come play with us then. That's what Dire Wolves and BWC will be working towards officially once it's possible. Until then, it's how we unofficially refer to ourselves.

Inner Sphere has the best lights. Assaults are debatable, depending on the situation. The only classes dominated by the Clans are heavies (Mad Cat) and mediums (Ryoken), and even in the case of mediums the IS is better at sniping due to the high mounts of Shadow Hawks (Ryoken is the better brawler/striker though).

So cause the clans have 1 mech slightly better than others than so OP, yet there lights and assaults are meh.

The real problem isn't clan tech, is this abomination of mixed drops that allow people to use the best of the IS mechs, ie lights an the best of the clans.

Once they stop this abomination you will find the clans not that powerful.

Ability to stack in SHS in 80 to 100 ton assaults -- this is handy as you can get better cooling efficiency than doubles with more than 40 of them for most builds. An Awesome is especially great. Ever had a mech that can spam PPCs for 5 minutes straight before it shuts down and cools off to 40% by the time it starts back up (which is in 2 to 3 seconds)?

You can get 40 STD Heatsinks onto an Awesome with more than 1 PPC?

Does it have like a 200 engine or something?

In order to play a 'Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally.

It might go the other way in separate queue, since Clan got the edge in 3/4 of the classes. I doubt IS Lights alone can turn the tide.

Well I have seen some feed back and I wanted to respond to some of it, Keep in mind that I have been playing Table Top Battletech for over 20+ years now.

Clan weapons dont seem op : The way they have the clan weapons working seems pretty inline with how it worked on the TT battlefield. With Burst auto cannons and longer fire cycles from the lasers it takes more pilot skill to get the greatest effect out of the weapons. A unskilled pilot/gunner will not do as much damage because they are not keeping the weapons on target for the cycle of the shot.

To the Gent that said the Madcat is a Jack of all trades but a master at none, I have to say I feel like you dont have any idea how to kit out a Madcat. Not only can it Drop as a Mech that fight on any battlefield it can be configured to Focus on just about any role, It has the Speed and turning ability to hunt and destroy any assault mech the IS can throw at it. From close quarter Urban combat to Long range engagements that mech can do anything well.

Even after the Las nerf the Nova is a fearsome mech, its a Med mech that can boat more laser firepower than a IS assault mech, take that stalker and Put Large Lasers on it, the Nova with 8er Med Las is going to have more fire power at the same range, it just wont have the armor.

To the guy that said that its not how many weapons you have but what you do with them, Thats just silly talk man.... I mean really ... Yes it matters what you do with your weapons but if 2 people of the same skill are fighting or teams of the same skill are fighting pretty sure 9 out of 10 times the one with 2 times the fire power is going to come out on top.

I guess all in all, What I was hoping to see is more when the CW is in full effect, I just have the idea in my head of how it worked out in Table top. Yes Clan mechs and weapons are better, but thats why they are almost always down like 20% in Tons on the battlefield a lot of times more than that. IS has numbers on their side clan had Tech and Pilot skill on theirs.

Ummmm Yeah.... I am gonna need you to check the tps reports (the pics of my battles with IS mechs) Didn't you get the memo?

Btw, I have dropped atleast 5 timbers in the last week and a half while maxing out my Locust's, and shaved legs and arms off many more. You might be right about not kitting out the Timber right, It took me a few tries to get a build right on the test server. But it is not just this awesome mech people make it out to be, its good, but not OP, IMO. I have went head to head with them, charged a line with 5 mechs, including 2 timbers.... hit both with 18 alphas, came back through two more times dancing and did the very same thing. In my Jeger S or DD, 3 ultra ac/5s rip and shave off limbs of anything, including Timbers. Fun times :-)

And for the remark about the Nova being a fearsome mech still after the nerfs.... umm yeah, it sure is fearsome as it explodes from over heating. lol I used to run mine with 12 er small lasers, with the range and heat nerf to all clan lasers.... well, it dropped me from a 1.37-1.4ish to a 1.07, which seriously sucks! I used to be able to manage heat just fine before the nerfs. After about 9 games in the Nova after nerf, I parked her till something is done. I can see them dropping the range on the er clan lasers a bit, but not raising the heat.... atleast not on the small and pulse lasers. I had some really strong matches with my Nova, 1000 damage, 5-7 kills before the nerf. I also had many fair or low damage/kill matches.

12 er small lasers or small pulse lasers really puts the skill on a pilot, even with the clan's range advantage. You have to close on the enemy and brawl, and that takes skill and balls to do well. The extra heat gimps the Nova so bad, mine is staying in the bay. LOCUST PARTY!!!!! :-)

I play mainly as a clan mech but I play my IS mechs too. Did pretty good in a shadowhawk earlier and broke mechs with the Blackjack (C) today. I still play my IS mechs sometimes horribly , sometimes masterfully.

I get stomped in Clan mechs too My KDR has dropped by .23 since I got the clan packages. Mostly due to workin through mastery and dumb descision or not enough beer in system. My highest score ever comes from a warhawk think my 2nd stromcrow , and 3rd oxide ...never have I felt the Timberwolf was the op mech. It has a high alpha capability but unless your elite pilot skill you will overheat and die because it can carry so many weapons that are hard not to use in a tough situation.
