Yes I noticed - you can probably dig up a thread of locust screenies from a bunch of us when the locust first came out. I don't remember whom the first was to break 1k damage in a locust but it's happened for man players. I'm just letting you know - you've popped them into a couple threads, and the way forumites are... you'll become a meme if you're not careful :P - some guys and I did an event called "the scourging of the locusts" , we took armorless locusts with erppc's and had some grand old battles :D - my personal favorite locust match is 796 damage and 5 kills in a locust armed with 5 flamers :) all painted up in neon colors. I love locusts and use them for training any time I've been driving my other lights like I'm invincible. The 5 flamer thing was actually a training aid to cure me of my perceived invincibility - it totally works :)

Yes, I have put them in two threads, all shots I put in show that Lights and IS mechs are in fact still very good options, given the right pilot behind them. Good god man, I don't claim that the Locust is untouchable, nor am I the best pilot behind one. The shots I posted wasn't to brag, it was to show that they are still a very real threat to any pilots that over look them.

I am really not a pop tart, snipe kinda guy. I don't use any consumables, never have yet, and doubt I ever will. I like to get up close and personal in my Locust, so no ERppc for me. Yes I get posting screen shots of my scores might make me a target.... its all good, It will make me a better pilot if I can live through being hunted

Ha, try a 12 flamer Nova and then talk to me about a reality check to ones pilot skills. lol

You claim you got 796 and 5 kills with all flamers in your Locust....(screen shot please) prove it... LOL. I am not sure why you would tell me to get some better numbers.... 662 damage, 8 assist and 1 kill, 93 match score, only being beat out by an awesome with a match score of 118 on my team and a victory for our side, all while I was in my Locust with 5 small lasers is very decent to me. :-)

I am a medium pilot mostly.. I will take my Cicada, BJ, and S'hawks over my Nova any day. I do much better with my IS mechs. the only reason I play my Novas anymore is to master them. Then I will sell the non-primes, and let the prime collect dust next to my Dragons i refuse to sell....

Pride, for those who recall playing TT before the Clans were introduced, and what all the changes in the game were like. Particularly those folks, perhaps, who made a cottage industry of learning to kick the Clans back to the periphery.

This. I remember playing the Battle of Tukkayid campaign battles and kicking Clanner butt.

Can you point me to an IS Heavy that can mount something the TBR cannot?
(Only one I can think of is Triple Gauss 'Phract.)

With Omnipod swapping, it can have a Laser hardpoint in 5/6 Parts of the mech that can mount weapons. (7 Energy HPs total)
It can have a Ballistic in 4/6 (4 HPs total)
It can have Missile hardpoints in 2/6, but it can have (4 Missile hardpoints total.)

And it goes 81-89kph.

It is the best medium, heavy, and assault. All at once.

CTF 3D can mount 2xGauss + ERPPC.

Show me a TW that can mount that...

clanner need seals to club?

Seriously, if they don;t balance right, either clans are OP and everyone plays that or IS are OP and clans can't attract critical mass (plus all those players who paid $240 are pissed).

But to ask dedicated house players to pay for clan mechs but not get to run them in CW....is....dumb.

With the recent Clan nerfs, IS quirk buffs and other changes i'd argue that they're pretty balanced right now but we can still improve balance in certain areas.

This thread may be old, apparently, should've checked the date a little better, but the topic, the discussion is still alive and well. I may think that balance right now is generally good but what does everyone else think? What little change would you make to make things more balanced or to improve gameplay?

Honestly, I don't think the the clanners have the edge in heavies sub 400 meters, group queue. I switched to the Black Knight and started running the 3xLPL, 3XMPL vomit build, and I just don't fear timbers anymore. Between the structure quirks, decent energy quirks, and the fixed hit boxes, I can drill a Timber's shoulder, twist to spread his reply, then drill him again to pop the shoulder off. Granted, the Timber will still live, but I just stripped most of his firepower, so he's not around much longer.

Bring a coolshot or two for when things get toasty and you're golden.

For me, I play IS out of pure mean stubbornness. I am no damn vat spawn trying to impose martial law on the rest of the universe.

Although truth be told, back in the various MW4 leagues we played as the Royal Terra Guard, when clan mechs were available for our garrisons we grabbed them when we could. I even gritted my teeth and used them when required to.

But using Clan mechs just feels so...dirty to me. Posted Image
I can see the OPs thinking though, especially if a newer player starts comparing weapon stats and possible load outs. Then they go, holt smokes - why play as IS except it is cheaper.

Playstyle and/or lore is more appealing to some.

Clans normally have high alpha high heat, which means infrequent shots and a little more emphasis on focusing components due to long burn times.

IS tend to have low heat alphas that are repeatable, low burn times.

These are characteristics are also work in tandem with the range of IS being shorter than Clan, generally speaking.

Clan nerfs have just started. They're going to get worse and worse. I would never pay cash for a clan mechs until you find out what you really get.

If what you say is true..then no-1 should spend any more money on this game..cuz another clan nerf will kill this game.
To many online games to waist money on rather than spending it on Nerf Warrior Online.

IS tech is better in my opinion

Lasers have better cooldown and less duration

AC's do full damage per shot(within their range of course)

I can swap out all the tech on IS mechs where omni's can't(not counting pods)

Yes IS tech weighs a bit more but that's a fair trade off.

Clam lasers duration and cooldown is just too long(I'm looking at you C-ERLL) and you mostly have to stack them to get any real use out of it.

Clam AC's take too long to do it's full damage with burst shots and alot of the times the shots don't all hit the same spot when you need it to and the C-UAC's are of more use but there is the chance of jamming in times where you need them the most.

I like both Clan mechs and Is mechs. But the real reason is, well FRR are based on nordic countries from Earth (and Im norwegian, it just fits!). And I hope someday, canon can be rewritten or tweaked so the FRR can be a big player again in the IS, on par at least with the capellans/ liao. I mean, in the lore. The FRR were about to become a biggie before the clan invasion. (Damn you clanners!)

Clan Ghost Bear took the biggest bite of the FRR. So Clan Ghost Bear + Free Rasalhague Republic bacame the Ghost Bear Dominion, then some time after and before the dreaded Dark Ages part they kinda 50-50 themself to be called Rasalhague Dominion (someone clarify for me?)

As far as I know the supporters of the old FRR got so small and finaly stomped out by the Dominion. So any chance to regain a pure IS Frr seems farfetched. But.. it could retcon some event so the pure FRR loyalists could for example travel trough the Draconis combine and to the small star clusters that forms the Jarnfolk http://www.sarna.net/wiki/J%C3%A0rnF%C3%B2lk cluster to settle there and at least build a small empire.

That and or travel through the Lyran Commonwealth to the Rift and overtake the old Rim Worlds republic worlds and start from scratch there.
I can only hope. Oh and the new colors could be Orange with teal and black.

Clan Missiles are undeniably superior. IS SRMs only deal slightly more damage than their Clan counterparts and at the expense of much more tonnage. Clans have access to SSRM4s and SSRM6s. C-ER LL need a duration buff. 1.25 seconds should be about right. C-LPL too. None of the Clan Pulse Lasers are true pulse lasers, IMO.
