First post ever on the offical forums (despite having been a member since Nov 2012).

You broke rules; you got removed.

It's what you do to people here; why should you be different on 3rd party sites?

Will this make you think about how you operate here and have treated people recently?

I'd just like to second this sentiment. There is no way anyone affiliated with PGI should be given back control of the /r/Transverse subreddit. Reddit is not your platform to control/censor - PGI already has official forums for that.

I really hesitated even logging in since I didn't want to contribute to any skewed PGI statistics about activity.... But since all the old founders are having a renunion, mind as well.

Niko, get a reality check. You might be able to be a draconian tyrant here, but don't cry when others find you unwelcome elsewhere. It's like PGI caught wind of catch phrases like crowd funding and reddit and space sim and $5000 ships and suddenly thought that's all there was to reaching success. This is a case of infants finding their way onto the internet and childishly handling a beloved IP and setting new lows for professionalism.

Dude pgi owns Wing commander Ip since 2013. They are working since then on a new game

Really though, PGI and MWO makes me more sad than anything else. Like I said earlier, so much promise was just... wasted. And because of MWO and its checkered history, we may never see another company willing to get Mechwarrior a chance.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think we'll never see another awesome mechwarrior game. I knew I would never get another Earth/Starsiege game, but I at least had hope for Mechwarrior... :(

You know something interesting? This whole community reaction, is a great example of a Stand Alone Complex developing among people. Really a great opportunity for study.

Well, at this point I'm a bit burned out (not from this, just general work and such). I imagine we all have a fair chance of being banned come morning. If so, huzzah! It's been an interesting ride these last 3 years.

Left handed salute!

This thread is great for your forum profile like count.

Until you realize there's a pretty good chance of getting banned tomorrow.

Funnily enough, I was actually thinking of buying MC recently. Would've been my first purchase of anything in a year. Oh well, plenty of other things on the internet to spend that money on. Webshows, camshows, videogames, porn games, streaming services, porn streaming services, etc. Huh, there's a lot of porn on the internet, isn't there? I think this is offering a better release for everyone, though XD

Maybe we should just move on. Without Reddit.

The MWO website should be the premier source of MWO information.

It already is. The point is, they censor any dissent here. If you raise concern, you are banned. Also, they did not get banned for MWO, they got banned for promoting their own game in their own subreddit and deleting any comments against them. That is the against the TOS of reddit, thus they got banned.

So not only will their new game fail, but it will cause their company to fail.

even if they do, you would be stupid to go up against CR with 52+ million and multiple dev houses using basically the same universe idea.

Gotta say, I'm pleased to see that this thread has been allowed to express itself.

I am hoping this is an early sign that we may see a shift in how PGI engages this community. And wow... what a turn out from the community here.

New motto for you.

Engage, don't enrage!

Feel free to put that on T-shirts and spread them around the office.

There is one path out of this, and you are now standing on the threshold by admitting that you moderated too heavily. Some pride and egos are hurting, no doubt... but seriously... you have unrealized potential here, there is still hope. Take the next step.

Make hard choices.

Deliver.

Many of us have been patiently, politely waiting. Most of us really don't want to see you fail.

Hey MechFans!

You may have heard the amusing news that we have been shadow-banned from Reddit. We're looking to get the situation fixed as soon as possible.

Yes, it WAS amusing. You're a community rep whose job it is to, amidst other things, understand and manage the laws of an online community.

And you hosed that in epic fashion. If it'd been a skating arena, you'd have been the guy trying for a 720, helicoptering clean off the edge, and ending up headfirst in someone's car windshield in the parking lot. Nobody got seriously hurt cause you're wearing your helmet and pads, but it's embarrassing and your bros are going to razz you a bit about it for the next few weeks.

Quote

We also have some indications as to which group of players may be responsible. The shadow-ban did not stop at r/Transverse related staff. All PGI Staff have been banned and will be unable to address any concerns raised by players on OutreachHPG as a result.

Wasn't just them. You set up a reddit that broke the rules- and other interested parties in your game also noticed this. Conflict of interest flags all over the place. Don't pull a "Goons <3 Paul" here, Niko. That PGI got slapped hard like this is also a sign that yes, you're a meaningful presence as a company.

I'll also note that the Outreach folks proceeded to automoderate PGI's staff so you can post there, being nice folks. You just can't use that Transverse Reddit as your own personal PGI fiefdom- Reddit doesn't work that way. Nor can you own it and supermoderate it. It's Reddit's virtual space, not PGI's. You're a guest.

Quote

If we are unable to have our shadow-bans removed, then we will simply have to say farewell to those accounts. Some individuals on r/mwo have already taught us all too well how easy it is to simply generate a new account. We might return. We might not.

Considering the PR disaster, in 30 days or so I do believe Transverse will be a moot point anyway. And the snide, snippy tone of this entire rant is making PGI look like it has an Atlas-sized stick up it's keister. For mercy's sake, just suck it up and just don't do it again. As it is, this whole nightmare fuel fiasco also revealed the fact that PGI has Wing Commander and instead chose to do it's own space sim ideas instead. We don't need torqued WC fans all over the place generating some kind of synergistic ****storm of rage with the MWO bittervets.
