Please don't waste time or resources on single player. I don't know why anyone wants it. Who likes to play against an AI? I prefer competing with other live players.

If you want SP, why?

A lot of people like Pve, why do you think Raiding and PVE Dungeons are such a hughe sucess in most MMOs?

Well most PvP is just E-Peen while PvE is a game with a story beginning middle and end. I am a fan of being able to start and finish a game. Never ending fighting for glory in a video game holds no interest to this old man.

On the other hand, one could say "PvE is just learning the rules" while PvP offers a far better test of your skill....

works both ways, allthought i understand that some people like pve more and others pvp, i still think, no need to be snarky, or?

We'll already have MWO WITH CW by the time they consider working on a single player mode. I can't see any downside to fluff bunnies like me getting our dose of storyline if MWO is developed to that point and gameplay is as good as (if not better than) it is right now.

Because PVE offers variety, more relaxed gameplay, some people don't like competitive multiplayer all that much, it's fun, it broadens the appeal of the game, co-op is a good way for teams to practice lance coordination, etc etc etc.

A Co-op, wave mode would be a good training exercise.

Indeed PvP does test your reflex more. But skill is more than pointing and trigger pulling. I can chose all the right firing positions and weapons but if I cannot click the button before you I will lose. I am getting to old to be playing vs 20 somethings.

A pve game mode or a mixed mode, like PvP but both teams are supported by a formation of tanks and infantry or something, could be interesting. Sort of like DOTA meets Mechwarrior. I would totally go for that.

I understand the whole Raiding thing I played WoW but MWO isn't like that in nature and I don't see MMOs as a SP thing. To me SP is like playing through a campaign of some sort against AI. Obviously it is a long way off but hearing Russ give it any credence has bothered me. CW should be the focus and nurturing that to me is the key to keep people interested.

Thats you bullshitting yourself in all honesty, its just a matter of pratice ;)

BUT, if pve floats your boat, cool thing, as stated, i pref. PvP but, at the end of the day, if it is beneficial for the community as a whole, and the game, why not have it?

*edit* and yes, PvE does need a certain skillset and practice, would never denie that, its just different skillsets to some degree, i just stubed my toe on "pvp is mostly about epeen" which it, for most, is not, this "its only about epeen" thing has been floating arround for so long, and it works towards both sides, its just boring and counter productive to reduce a question of taste to such a stupid statement, dont you think?

PvP in a well designed game is by definition a fair fight. Players such as myself like PvE specifically because it doesn't have to be fair, we can decide how challenging the game is without giving up freedom of choice in playstyles like we would have to in PvP.
I play single player games in hard mode by default, I can't do the same here without restricting myself to weaker builds or tactics.

Put simply- multiplayer is just a way to test your skill against another's. You might think that's normal, that it's what you want in a game. I, on the other hand, think the opposite.

I never ever played MechWarrior for the multiplayer. Ever. In fact, I don't own a single game bar this one that I play primarily multiplayer on. I started on MechWarrior II because of the immersion, because it felt like I was piloting a real 'Mech. The missions were fun, the customization was fun, the economy was fun... and, while MP will usually offer a greater challenge, you loose that immersion. Because a player is just another person playing with rules set by the game, while an AI is something programmed to fit in with the lore and act in a way you'd expect it to. Also a MP game, apparently, has to be balanced to hell and back in order to avoid angering people that are here for balance and balance only.

I've got nothing against MP, but people need to remember there's more to a game than just testing your skill against another's.

I can just imagine a Locust that is 10x bigger than a Direwolf being tanked by a Centurion with his shield arm while poptarts DPS from behind.

i think a single player training campaign could really help in the long run , after we get CW.

Because single player can add new scenarios that cannot be reliably and consistently created by a 100% player queued gamed.

Plus the AI doesn't run it's mouth in the chat channels, that is priceless. :D

I really want a good campaign based on MWO's combat. Hell, just port the MW3 campaign, story and voice acting for all I care.

Yeah finaly Role Warfare!

We even have different versions of tanks! We have Avoidance Tanks, namely light mechs, we haver EHP tanks, namely Assaults, and we have ECM tanks!

We have DPS roles, like LRM support DPS and Poptart DPS and Brawler DPS,

hey, we need a Healer role!

And while we are at it, new Modules! like "Aggro-tech" increases threat generation by 50%

lol
