I ever screw up in my job.

I am in no way the public face of customer relations, but if I ever generated this much negative press for my company, you can bet I'd be rightfully in a dire situation.

Oh it couldn't possibly be a farfetched concept that we would pay craptons of money to PGI just so we could somehow cause all of these PR screwballs PGI seems insistent upon.

"He's saying he doesn't like something! HE NEEDS TO BE BANNED BEFORE ANYONE SEES!"

I think its pretty clear TRANS|VERSE isnt going to pan out.

So can we please have our Aerotech game now? I would seriously pledge money for an Aerotech game, even if its only as rudimentary as MWO, and only ties into MWO at the meta/community warfare level.

I could totally get behind that. Though sdly, being on is Unreal the other Cryengine, no real chance of them eventually coming together. But still, an Aerotech game would convince me to buy a HOTAS again.

Most non-redditors are yawning though. I'm not saying give him a raise, but firing?

Then again, folks have been demanding Paul to be fired for ages. How's that working out?

When Paul posts "We have kind of a halfassed idea for fixing a weapon that even we don't really like, what do you think?" Then he gets 20 pages of responses, including numerous detailed proposals, and then he goes, "What you guys said was hard, and even though we asked for your feedback we're going to go with our original terrible idea," I think calling it a "communication problem" is pretty... gentle.

Communication requires participation from at least two parties, and at least one must be participating on both sides of the conversation. Thus far we do not have this.

Phoenix backer here, and I'm not waiting to come back to this game. I'm still here.

However, I am waiting to spend money on this game again. Its not going to be hard, really. I just want two things, really.

1. Community warfare on track to being delivered. I don't need it tomorrow, I just want to be playing it by the end of this year. Even if it needs some more polish, has balance issues, etc, I'll understand that its not perfect, and I'll be happy if its out and if you guys are working towards getting into tip-top shape.

2. Better relationship between PGI and the community. I haven't been personally slighted by Niko, as I've been absent for most of his tenure. I didn't invest in this game in 2012 and be told that CW is coming in the next three months for a period of two years. I don't really feel slighted in particular, but the very slow rate at which the game has developed is frustrating, when all I want to see is the game take off. Let us know more of what really is going on, how things are really progressing, listen to the extremely well written ideas posted all over the forum and let us know what you think, and don't pretend that things are all peachy when they're really not. I don't want anybody fired or publically caned, I just want to see a healthier relationship, one with a little more respect.

Really, the Town Hall just made me seriously consider spending money on the game again, first time in a year. I'm not going to invest any more in MWO if I don't think I'll be playing it in three months, in six months. Just give me a product, don't be hostile on the forums towards users, and I'll pay accordingally.

There is a good reason why I didn't bring up any game specifics in my OP. This is about communication and relationships with us the fans, the clients, the customers.

Also to show PGI that some of us are here can care about the game.

For me, I want the game to succeed. It will not, so long as the hostility between players and devs continue.

Paul's doing his job, whether people agree with his changes or not.

The community manager is aggravating the community of paying customers, breaking terms of use on third party sites, shifting blame to specific groups, etc... I'm sure his job description doesn't match that. Not saying he needs to be fired, either, but a sane company wouldn't agree that he's doing his job.

Not sure how Niko is getting blamed for getting like all the PGI accounts banned, his own yeah ok, as for the other PGI accounts, someone else did that for lulz. Jackpot lulz. Not sure how accounts that aren't mods on r transverse would be affected unless someone is going headhunting.

PGI has to do two things to regain their users' support:

1. Follow through on an in-depth CW by Dec. 21st
2. Fire Niko

I disagree, Niko made heavy mistakes, but fire him? Everybody should deserve a second chance, especially in a enviroiment like Customer support, its a hard job, its a stressfull job, usualy a badly paid job (in comparison to others) and you need skills you can only develope on the job...

that aside, i rather keep the "devil i know" then trade him in for an unknown factor...

And while I agree it was...less than well handled, *shrug* big whoop. Can't say I see it as quite a Roger Goodell level pooch screwing.

I disagree. They had a town hall meeting, they've promised more frequent and more open communication now that they aren't saddled with IGP. They've been making an effort, and that *could* foster a resurgence of good will in the company. But then at the same time they behave like they did on Reddit, and then ask *us* to back their rule-breaking up on Reddit, it really just makes me feel like despite all of the big talk about positive changes coming Soontm, it's really just that: talk.

They've been failing to follow through on promises for two years now, and they finally have an opportunity to turn it around, but they're fumbling it.

really? So all the Dev posts on this forum are not more open communication? Ok then.

Honestly, my only knock on them over reddit is trying to figure out why they would want to be on it in the first place. Those very rules are why it's hands down the most wretched set of forums I have ever been on.

If you think the horde of founders that moved away from MWO and showed up on that thread are waiting to return when this latest mismanagment of PR and Niko's doings are acknowledged and corrected, you need to wake up.

Most of them (us) left way before any of this happened, before Niko was CM, and left due to the avalanche of unfulfilled development goals and piss poor design choices. The poor communication is just the tip of the iceberg; fixing them (which have already been """fixed""" like three times already, always after a mayor PR blunder) is a pretty small beginning in the face of all the other things still pending and likely never to be resolved anyway.

I only bring up CW because, realistically speaking, I'm a gamer. I don't play with anybody online that I'm not very well aquainted with anymore, after a few too many bits of drama thrust unto me (ever have your account spammed with hundreds of hateful messages a day for weeks on end?), so really the only thing keeping me here is solo play. Team Deathmatch over and over gets boring. That point isn't about promises, its just about gameplay, pure and simple. Nobody would get Call of Duty without multiplayer.

You're right about hostilities between players and developers. I've seen it before. It may take a while, but if things don't improve, everybody on the forum will get dragged into a camp, stop enjoying the forums, and then stop enjoying the game. When the discussion board for your game becomes a battlefield, so does your game.

Wasn't his first chance when he was employed at IGP?

Like, seriously. This community is undoubtedly passionate and at times angry, but the vitriol we create is nothing compared to the sort of things Riot or Blizzard has to deal with. It shouldn't be this hard.
