I think what Russ & staff are not telling most of the true playerbase is these same people that are at the top of the nomination ladder are the same groups of player they play MWO with in the group MM queues. Of corse this post will be negated to hide the truth that these right and left wing group players of MWO do not in fact represent the majority of the player bases views .

And in all likely hood these same small MWO groups will decide the direction of the game despite the majority of player base even knowing what is going on with the forums or the game itself.Russ posted that IF this counsel is selected they will get a long term position with rights to determine aspects of the game without the majority of the core solo or Casual or silent non forums player base ever knowing those decisions until there already implemented.

I spent the last few days asking players in-game about the situation on the forums about ECM and Player Counsel the response was 90% did not even know what was happing and were surprised at a ECM change or player counsel being formed. How can this list of players or forum warriors even have the right to represent the player base?

A much fairer and informative way to know what the players and community wants is a in-game poll and voting system.

P.S Russ if you continue with this Payer counsel folly Im sure in the end you will regret even mentioning it and you would be better server with a in-game poll-votes-system that the silent majority can be inclusive. Then perhaps after the data is gathered show on the forums the results and you and your staffs recommendations on how they will or will not implement the improvements to the game or the will of the true player base.

Catering to the far right or left of your player base and fans is not a viable option.

Yesterday I took it to the general discussion to announce my candidacy for player council class president. Today I'm here to let you, the frequent voter and habitual viewer know that I am here for the community. I won't deny that I've made some lofty claims, but I will tell you this, loyal listeners: I promise that won't be swayed by high priced corporate lobbies like some of my 'etitors in the 'etitve elos. My administration will work to bring the high elo low drag lifestyle to the people. No more will mechs be DOA just because the concept art looks bad. No more will lasers make a pew sound instead of a zap.

I will be out there pounding the pavement, doing dirt, T-zoning each and every day to make sure that each and every player is as proficient at draining brains as their bandwidth allows. These claims sound lofty I know, but I'm paying my dues, god knows, there's nothing for free but I'm taking it back, paper, making a stack and if we as a community can reduce our drag and raise our elo, we can create a better future.

I haven't seen Heimdelight being nominated here (I think, long thread already)
So my point exactly :D

It's a matter of putting the right person into the council

Did you even read the posts about this topic?

The council will not be deciding anything. Add to it that some of the people at the top are actually people that always called PGIGP on their ****, and do have integrity.

When this mythological "silent majority" participates, it ceases to be "silent" Yet somehow, according to you, if they participate, their votes no longer count, because they are not silent anymore.

Add to it, that if they had something they wanted to say, the would be here. Meaning this silent majority silliness is useless. Those players don't have anything to say, or don't care enough to say it. Either way, they refuse to participate. On top of it, if they DO participate, you'll consider their voice invalid, since they are not still with the faceless silent group.

No one is forcing them not to participate, they don't participate by choice. How is PGI going to have a conversation with them, when they don't talk? Besides, the council seems to have a good striation of nominees from all sections. meaning that all points will be debated very fairly.

I'm personally tired of this "silent majority" argument because it is absolutely stupid. It makes no sense. When it comes to feature suggestions, sure, get the entire community to vote on things. When it comes to organizing who mediates the conversation between PGI and the community, those that are silent have no say in it, by virtue of being silent.

If you don't get involved, you shouldn't vote on who gets elected. Otherwise, should kids from Mozambique vote in the county elections for Madison county? According to your brilliant logic, they should.

This statement in itself should tell everyone this player is out of touch with the in-game player base as are most forum warriors and far right or left group players that are being nominated for this counsel..

This council would be remiss if it is missing Kin3ticX. He plays competitively, runs experimental builds/tests, understands the game extremely well AND is a major contributor to the community. Not only is he active on reddit, he has also taken on the huge project of developing and updating this Player Guide.

If you want to support someone with a history of positive involvement and a voice of reason, please vote for Kin3ticX and make sure he gets on this Council.

Wow.

This...is getting ... a little ridiculous?

Last I checked, we were gathering nominees to act as a 1 time task force, to address a specific issue, Russ extended to us as an olive branch.

By compiling and making reasoned proposals based off of Community Data. Not running for permanent seats on Congress. Not to make bold new proposals?

I mean seems to me we need people who are more, largely unbiased bean counters, with good communication skills than a popularity contest on who is the most Comp. makes best Videos, etc.

Obviously we need to take it seriously, but geez, the strutting and bickering is getting to High School elections proportions.

Eh, as it turns out people are acting like its a position of actual power formed by a popularity contest.

As far as I knew it this entire thing was about a group of players being chosen to compile ideas for ECM and submit it to Russ so that they don't have to open up a thread and sift through every single idea.

Now I know for sure this game is on life support. The rational voices dissenting from this very bad idea should be listened to. Whenever a developer starts looking to the forum warriors and "competitive players" for guidance, things go south quick. Basically, this council thing becomes a platform for exclusion, and myopic ideas. Fact: the average active forum base for any game ranges from 3-10% of the total playerbase. So already, this council, no matter the number of prolific posts or ostensible armchair game development expertise, only represents a tiny minority. So why is the silent majority silent? Because there's really nothing wrong with the core game. This is why this council will fail, the concentration of effort will be on arcane game mechanics casuals really don't care about. The game badly needs non-mech content, and you people want to decide on a single game mechanic by way of galactic council. I mean, hurray for democracy, but minus 50 dkp for efficiency. The best ideas to improve this game have been presented already, we don't need a Neckbeard Council arguing over who's ecm idea or heat idea is the best. This game needs maps. Combined arms warfare with tanks and air support. CW in place to give the PvP reason and stakes to fight over. Some fluff rp elements to immerse the players and tt vets alike. This council thing amounts to so much PR, since pgi has been shamed from reddit. All effort needs to go into content creation. People arguing ecm from a lofty, high post count position, is a tragic waste of everyone's time.

When are people going to start registering: "Players vote on proposals before they go to PGI. If they do not pass vote, they do not go."

Players means: YOU. And you. and you and you and you.
You get a vote
YOU get a vote
and YOU get a vote
Votes for everyone!

I could not agree with you more I have the same opinion of this situation and from talking to a lot of in-game players they think ECM is just fine no changes needed? So why fix a ECM component that is not broken to a point of non playable and concentrate of new content?

Please read his post again.

Ingame voting on things yeah sure(meaning all playerbase)
Voting on who sits on a powerless council whose job it is to collect ideas and point them out to PGI? Best not.

Why would you think that someone who was never in the forums, and maybe never wants to, can or wants to make an informed decision about the candidates?
I mean why not just leave a mesage of the whole thing on the login screen, I wouldn't be surprised if most players still don't attend to vote.

I wonder how many players don't know that they gonna get stuff for "free" soon.
Also does it matter?
They get something, they don't get excluded because they're not informed.
But they also don't have a right to complain about it if they wanted to.
It's not my fault, I didn't know; is no excuse in quite many things.

Last thing.
Why so sour?
Why not wait until at least some candidates have been brought up?

Some players that got nominated I know from just reading in the forums.
They're realy good guys who have the right mindset and the good of players, all players, at heart.

Why not wait and see a little before throwing rocks.
