I dusted off my Founder's Jenner.
And had a blast. I suck at Lights. Am a Medium jock, through and through. Never even got the other Jenners, so it's still locked.
But I slapped a NARC on it, and 4 Mlasers, and the biggest engine. And went to town earning close to 50 pts a match except for when the team just utterly failed.
Great fun in my IS mechs
For me there's nothing more amusing than punching out a direwhale or timberwolf's ticket with a Fang armed with 2 LPL and 1 AC10 hehe.
Other than maybe having a TDR bar room brawl it's way through mechs...

I also just came back to MWO recently and started to grind out some of the mechs I missed. And while looking at my K/D W/L makes me want to cry, I'm having fun.
Really enjoyed the latest challenge, and beating up some Clanners never gets boring

Always hated the Clans.
Love my Cats and Phracts.

I don't use Clan 'mechs and don't plan on getting any for roleplaying reasons -I want to be one of the underdogs who fight off the Petri dish space fascists. It's not so tough if you find ways to minimize Clan advantages like superior range and maximize IS advantages like more concentrated damage.
That being said, your concern is real because we've been told that there won't be any 10 vs 12 setup for CW because of technical reasons. That means if Clan and IS 'mechs can't fight each other on equal terms before CW gets started, almost no one will join the IS side out of sheer practicality. The few who play IS for roleplaying reasons or to challenge themselves will be vastly outnumbered by those who will simply choose the side with the better 'mechs. PGI's own tests show an all-Clan team will beat an all-IS team almost every time.

I simply dont like them. IS rides got alot more character, style and coolness imo. On my wishlist is still the IS vs IS button.

Was hoping to get into the Summoners leading up to the invasion, but they turned out to be trash, so meh.
Maybe I'll get the TBRs when they come out for cbills, but I dunno. Plenty happy with my trusty and reliable IS mechs for the moment.

Both because some of my favourite mechs are IS but also to not gimp my self for the upcoming CW as SoR is a IS merc force. No point in getting to used to weapons that you will only see the wrong end of.
Also as a medium pilot i find that the two clan offerings are just meh.. one for it´s hardpoints and the other from it´s looks. Maybe i will salvage some clan snacks down the line once it get´s in-game in CW.
Now that being said i have a T-wolf that i bough a la carte as the price was too good to pass up. But it simply gathers dust right now.

Viva la Centy (even if PGI is determined to never restore the AH to us)
Hey Bishop, thanks for the response...
Not long gone, and actually after my hiatus I hit the ground running, had some great matches tonight.
The game has come a long way since I played last

I am basically a lunatic who has a hard-on for Atlas, and I pilot them exclusively.
AS7-D, DDC, Boar's Head.<---- Doing fairly well in brawls against anyone.
I just wish we didn't have agility nerfs on mechs like Victor and Highlander, Atlas...
They need movement buffs.

TimberWolves are the go to mech for the heavy category as they have so much flexibility in build types. Very powerful, fast, and manoeuvrable but can be defeated.
I don't believe that you have to buy Clan mechs to feel competitive and they are not an automatic win feature. Good thing is that quite a few of them can be purchased for CBills.
Anyhow, if you do buy any clan mechs with real money it goes to supporting the game which is a positive for the future for MWO.
Cheers, Eboli.

Still run my IS lights ALLOT, stalkers, jaggers, catapults, kto, and a couple others classes frequently (none are lrms if it matters).
Everything that makes the clanners great, is their downfall (high alpha/high heat). Just treat every engagement like you are mixing it u with a 4 erppc stalker. Its going to hurt, but for if you can hold in there they going to run out of wind.

Let's all drop in the shiney new mechs!"
Pah! sez I.
I'm still grinding through IS mechs, (and the last of my well worn teeth).
Besides I get a warm fuzzy feeling from the abuse and rage quits from clan pilots as I molest their shiny mechs in Mr.Shreddy the JM6-S.

Clan mechs considered OP?
Jump into an IS mech you're REALLY comfortable with.
Simples.

With CW on it's way and announced to be strictly IS or Clan where you will need one of each weight class, I am currently building a personal IS drop deck with the goal of having two different mechs mastered in each weight class. Since I am a relatively new player there is a lot of work ahead there. I suspect lots of players have similar preparations going on.
Not prepared to pay the high cash prices for clan mechs (not that I'm not buying anything, I payed quite my share, just that the clans was too damn pricey), but I do love my kit fox. The cbill earnings from my IS grinding will eventually go into a Clan dropdeck once they are all out for cbills. But for all those newer players who can't pay a lot of real money, fielding a Clan dropdeck is a pretty daunting task.
Also keep in mind PGI has now officially announced that their design goal is for IS and Clan to be balanced in a 12 vs 12 environment, no matter whether you like that decision or not it is encouraging people to prepare IS drop decks for the future.
