I still prefer IS mechs of any weight class. It sure is easier to dish out alot of damage with a Clan mech, but who wants an easy game? ;)
I also just came back to MWO recently and started to grind out some of the mechs I missed. And while looking at my K/D W/L makes me want to cry, I'm having fun.
Really enjoyed the latest challenge, and beating up some Clanners never gets boring :P

It's good, despite the Reddit negativity to see so many old siggys showing up in the forums again. PGI still gots work to do, lots of it, but this is a good sign, IMO.

I don't use Clan 'mechs and don't plan on getting any for roleplaying reasons -I want to be one of the underdogs who fight off the Petri dish space fascists. It's not so tough if you find ways to minimize Clan advantages like superior range and maximize IS advantages like more concentrated damage.

That being said, your concern is real because we've been told that there won't be any 10 vs 12 setup for CW because of technical reasons. That means if Clan and IS 'mechs can't fight each other on equal terms before CW gets started, almost no one will join the IS side out of sheer practicality. The few who play IS for roleplaying reasons or to challenge themselves will be vastly outnumbered by those who will simply choose the side with the better 'mechs. PGI's own tests show an all-Clan team will beat an all-IS team almost every time.

Yeah, of course those tests were done before the Clans had the majority of their weapons NErfed into oblivion. And even during the test it was more that the Timberwolf beat the innershpere into junk, every time. Still largely do, too, being one of the few chassis to largely laugh off the nerfs.

as for 10 v 12, that was never a winning balance for IS, either. Usually through numbers and tonnage, IS needed a 2 to 1 ratio to have a legit chance. But had they gone 10v12, Russ is right, you would just see all the top teams go Clan anyhow, and use the superiority of the tech to crush any IS units (because end of the day, top comp dont care about roleplay). And it would leave the Solo queue totally screwed, or force clan vs IS in that, too. (not all bad the last part, but definitely enough to get he MM even slower)

IS loud and proud.

Both because some of my favourite mechs are IS but also to not gimp my self for the upcoming CW as SoR is a IS merc force. No point in getting to used to weapons that you will only see the wrong end of.

Also as a medium pilot i find that the two clan offerings are just meh.. one for it´s hardpoints and the other from it´s looks. Maybe i will salvage some clan snacks down the line once it get´s in-game in CW.

Now that being said i have a T-wolf that i bough a la carte as the price was too good to pass up. But it simply gathers dust right now.

Same. The ol Bishop may indeed salvage himself a Summoner (even though they are really pretty weak) just because it still moves a lot like a slightly bigger version of my beloved jump Mediums, and is on of my absolute favorites from TT. Otherwise? Nope.

I bought a Timber Wolf, but it's so good that it quickly became boring for me. It's like playing this game in easy mode. I've been paying more attention to my IS 'Mechs lately.

Exactly how I view it. Even in my Clan Acct. I use the Twolf in large group "serious" drops, out of necessity. I prefer to use a Summoner, for fun.

That said, I do have a couple "non optimized ,. non meta" builds for the Twolf I enjoy and feel less cheezy in

Been away for a while... I left the game months ago after the price announcement for the clan mechs...

So, is anyone "not" using clan mechs and still playing?

Me, I don't own any clan mechs and have been having a great time lately. Mostly in mediums with SRMs now that they are working again.

Here's my latest build, been getting lots of kills with it: SHD-2K

I alternate between 2 LL, 1 LPL, or 1 ERPCC in the energy slots. They all seem to work well.

Yes, there are people using IS mechs.

Hell there are a lot of players who are sticking to purely IS mechs and leading the match scores quite often in those mechs.

I've put leveling clan mechs on pause a couple times to go back to Inner Sphere mechs, especially my Battlemasters. While I think I got my money's worth from my clan pack (and will likely grab the 2nd wave pack), I still enjoy my orange-HUD mechs.

Not only do I see an even mix of Clan and IS mechs, but the anguish and consternation over Clan mechs being over powered has subsided too.

Killing a Clan mech is now about as note worthy as killing an IS mech.

There is no need to buy one...except maybe to run the Timber Wolf before it is inevitably quirked into dull commonality.
