Dear PGI, like many of your dedicated followers we've elected to create second accounts for the purpose of the upcoming clan wars. While the announcement of getting a free King Crab mech is very generous of you, unless we bought a top tier of the Founders/Phoenix pack eons ago, the only option IS purists have is to purchase clan mechs in order to get the King Crab onto our IS accounts.

That sucks.

On the other hand, the Phoenix variants of the Phoenix package were pretty spiffy, and I'd be willing to throw down on an Overlord package if it was made available again for the purpose of making sure only IS mechs along with the Crab reside in their proper place. I'd even be willing to forgo the Overlord forum badge and pre-order camo/paint so the early Phoenix adopters still feel like they got something special.

Please consider it,
Thank you

I would say that PGI might want to consider offering something to people whose accounts were created after the Phoenix Packs were closed for sale... however people who have been around from earlier times had a chance to buy a top-tier pack, and they did/didn't.

I personally like the idea.

But I think any unleashing of Phoenix packages or founders would need to come from the players. More specifically from the Phoenix and founders themselves saying yes you should do that.

Only way I can see it happening.

If I might say, being an Overlord Pack holder (I don't normally throw that out there!), I don't know why all the sales have to be limited.

Here is my thought on the sales, They should be always be up. At first, they should have extra benefits for pre-orders and those who buy it during it's "offical" sale times. Afterwards, they can remain as mech and mechbay packs. Basically, remove all the pre-order penefits, the extra colors and paint schemes, and I personally wouldn't have any issues with older sales being revived for continued sale. (Including Gold mechs.)

I see this as, if people are willing to buy it, then PGI should certainly take advantage of people who wish to still pruchase the package. The sales would slow down as the mechs become released for C-bills, but some people, a few years from now, may want to (just to say) own all the Clan mechs. if the invasion packs are still able to be purchased, they very well could purchase that, get all the mechs from that pack, and all the mechbays for those mechs. (Forum badges optional.)

Instead of being a "Pheonix Overlord", they could change the name to "Pheonix Overlord Mech Pack".

I suggest you create an announcement as an official poll on the matter, and maybe can lock the poll (of desired/possible) to only package/Founder voters only. If you get 80% agreement, then go ahead with it!

Though perhaps offering those who did buy, a chance to upgrade if they can and or desire?

Have got to word this carefully, so as not to overstep or offend.

Phoenix Pack? Saber Pack? The Clan Packs?

Got them all. Enjoy them, no complaints. But they also really mean nothing to me, other than the stuff I got. If there are people jonesing for a (PHX) SHD-2H, or a (SBR) GRF-1N, and willing to pay for them? More power to them, and I think for a certainty you should offer it. Maybe not with all the bells and whistles of a pre-order, because, well, they aren't having to wait 6 months to receive, lol. But absolutely, not even considering the Mad Dog, KGC, et al, make them available.

But the Founder's Packages?

That is something else entirely. That represents people who sight unseen, shelled out to make MWO a reality. I've never felt it entitles us to tell PGI how to make the game, or that we were owed anything beside what we got. And I still don't. But that badge, that title, FOUNDER? At least to some of us, it means something. And I don't care how good a player someone is, how much they contribute to the game now, how many good ideas they have. They are NOT a Founder.

Make the Mech's available if there are people willing to pay. Make them some nice packages. But do NOT call the Founder's Packs. Call them "Supporters" or "Jehonadabs" or whatever you like. But they are not, and cannot be Founders. Just look at the definition of Founder.

No Founders name, Badges or Paint. IMO; it would be a pretty open insult to those who got the ball rolling and have stuck with it, all this time.

Just my 2ct.

yeah, you're right.... i've been around since pilot name registration opened, way before there was a game. But i didnt shell out, therefore i have no right to a founder anything....but i always kick myself when i see a founder mech strolling around, just didnt have the money at the time.

And that is why I have no issue with the Mechs being put out as a Package still, with a new title and different Paint. Because there are a lot of people who HAVE supported the game, even from back then, who for whatever reasons, could not, or did not, want to buy a Founder's pack.

But, if they want to support the game still that way, and buy a pack, and have it counted like a Founder's pack, I got no bones with it.

Though I'd gladly trade my Founder's cat for one without a Barbara Streisand nose.

Jeffrey Layton - "Couldn't we just make up rules for swords?"

Bryan Nystul - "Nah, its 1994, perhaps in the far-flung future of 1996 we might introduce the rules for swords, but not now. Sword Shaped Hatchet. Trust me, it'll make sense."

Back on topic, I'm opposed (damn damn opposed) to re-opening Founders or Phoenix packs to new buyers.... but how about opening open eligibility to the Mastery Bundles instead?

I do not want to see the Phoenix Package re-opened. It was exclusive for a reason. If people want to "Support the Game" they can buy MC and enjoy the free -AH.

I would be interested in an IS package of some sort since I intend to only run IS mechs. If one is not possible or Founders do not like the idea I understand since they where here and invested in the exclusive package to support the games development.

Phoenix sure, founders no. Founders were for help fund ding a game that wasn't made/very early in the process. We took a risk with that. But I have no problem with the Phoenix pack, everyone should have one!

I wonder if people's tune would change if the price of the "re-released" package was also $240.

although I understand where you are coming from, this is a reward for those who have supported in the past - with out knowing that there where going to be freebies down the line.

So to be honest I think its a bit unfair for people to want old packs just so that they can get the freebies now.

On a side note, next time perhaps the rewards can be geared up as a choice between IS and clan as people are investing heavily in one or the other for CW.

Re-releasing Founders packages would be the epitome of your word meaning nothing at all, no?

I mean...how do you get in on the ground level on something after it's already been built up?

I do not think they should do Founders because it is not a Founders pack to release it now. Something else maybe? As I said above I do not want to step on anyone who invested in the game previously. I was not playing then and understand those people invested in good faith for an exclusive package.

I don't think any Founders would have an issue if they sold the original 4 mechs in a pack (without the unique geometry, skins, badges or bonuses).

They could very easily change some paints and give a 30% c-bill bonus for a set of different four mechs from the starting lineup. Call it the "IS Loyalist Pack" or something.
